Professor Trelawney

Who do you like best and who could you definately live without? Will there be romance in the air for any of them and who will end up with who?

Vivian,

Sybil's trance sounds like channeling to me. I've seen it in person.

The question is who is she channeling ?

Oh, yeah. Good point, Colin! Hmm...the only idea I have about who or what she could've been channeling is that it was most likely someone or something on V's side. I say this because the voice honors him with the title "The Dark Lord", not "Voldemort", "Thomas Riddle", or even "Lord Voldemort", but "Dark Lord". Whether it's possession or channeling, the spirit doing the talking is not likely to be of the friendly persuasion!

Prophecy

Postby highsorcerer » Wednesday 6 August 2003 6:36:36am

The history of Prophecy shows that people interrpet them in their own way. I think the famous Delphi prophecy told a king that a war would destroy a great kingdom. He warred, and lost, only to realize that it was HIS kingdom, not the other, that would fall.

Harry's knowledge of the prophecy is in the same boat. However, he knows that it is him or Voldemort at the end, and knows he's inferior. His edge is that he has a power the dark lord does not - the power of love. While Harry can't ever love Voldemort, his love for his parents and Silous are strong in him.

As long as Harry loves, Voldemore can't destroy him. But if Harry had opted for Slyterhin power, it would be unpredictable. He's have given everything else up for the power to kill Voldemort. Harry COULD be great, the greatest wizard of them all. But the price was too high. He'd have taken Voldemort's place. Harry wouldn't pay the price of his parents for absolute power. It was just wrong.

Yah, that's a cool theory! but it doesn't have to like a ghost or something posessing her, it could just be the "spirit of prophecy" or summat... y'know, like how in Delphi the oracle would chew laurel leaves and go into a trance and the god would speak through her... 'k, i like mythology way too much, I wonder if Voldie could really access the prophecies if it was a posession thing... it might be like how he broke through Crouch's memory charm on Bertha Jorkins, but if another something was prophecying through Trelawney, I don't think VD could get ahold of any memory of the prophecies. Hmm...
