Mr.Tibbles (and cats, in general, from the HP series)

Who do you like best and who could you definately live without? Will there be romance in the air for any of them and who will end up with who?

Do you know what really seems unusual? Only Squibs seem to have communication relationships with cats. Hermoine doesn't have it with Crookshanks. But Filtch and Mrs. Norris and Arabella Figg anbd Mr. Tibbles do. Of course, Sirius did manage to communicate with Crookshanks for the Firebolt gift, and Crookshanks knew Scabbers was no rat, he's somewhat unusual - part Knezle probably.

Mr. Tibbles is mentioned in the first book, but i still dont think that he is important. Harry is trying to feel sorry for Mrs. Figg because shes broken her leg and cant take him in while the Dursleys go to the zoo, but he cant because he knows that it will be a whole year before he has to look at Mr. Tibbles and all the other cats again. :D

I have a question. Why did Filch and Figg named their cats with a Mr. and Mrs. prefix? I don't think it is simply used to identity the male and the female cats. There must be a meaning behind it. (am i thinking too much?)

No, I think you are right. I think this is too much of a coincidence to be overlooked.

Are those cats carrying the souls of people? People linked to their owners?

So instead of becoming ghosts, some people that die become cats?
Maybe we'll get Sirius back as a cat then! :P

Wait a minute, could it be so, that squibs are given 'magical' cats, a kneazle perhaps, to help them in their everyday life or something like that? That could explain why both Mrs. Figg and Filch have a cat with a Mr or Mrs prefix..
interesting stuff!

Isnt it Mr. Paws mentioned in the first book?

That could be perfectly true. In the books, it is always talking about the "mysterious connection" between Filch and Mrs. Norris. Mrs. Figg's cats help her in the magical world too.

Spirits of those who had died dwell among the living as cats? That would explain most things. Crookshanks might have been a Hogwarts Teacher when he was alive as a wizard. It was in GoF if I wasn't mistaken, that Crookshanks stared at Harry and Ron when they faked the divination homework.

It occurs to me that the "Spirit" of a person can be contained in a portrait, or another magical item. Why not a cat? It would give a squib a better chance to survive in their world.
