Sorry, I wasnt sure which character section to put this in, but since I plan on mentioning something about book 5 I put it here

So we know plenty about Draco and Lucius, but what about Narcissa?

Why isn't she a Death Eater? It's not like there can't be girl Death Eaters (ie: Bellatrix)

Why not have Draco go to Durmstang? She said that it was too far away, but if the Malfoy family is going to be a family of wizards that practice the dark arts (Hermione said Durmstang was known for the dark arts right? ), wouldn't the distance be a necessary sacrifice for Draco to be taught the dark things that his father knows?

I think that Draco's family life will change now that his dad is in prison. It's him and his mom (unless he has siblings that we don't know about... ooh, wouldn't that be interesting ). Maybe Narcissa isn't as bad as Lucius. I'm sure that he won't be locked away for too long, but maybe Narcissa can work a little with Draco in that short period of time.

How do you all feel about Narcissa Malfoy? Do you think that she'll play a larger part in future books? If yes, do you think she'll be more or less evil than the rest of her family?

Hmmmmmmmm....I've always wondered about Narcissa also. I mean she did give birth to that wonderful, sweet tempered child we all love so dear...but i have two versions of how she could be...

First she could be a DE too, very evil etc...you know, Lucius in a skirt...

or

she could be just a wife, a piece of property Lucius married for status and maybe mentally abused by him, pushed a round, the typical docile, door-mat...

I'm leaning towards the second one, it just seems appropriate. Narcissa didn't say anything (or much if anything) when we met her in Book 4 during the World Cup. This would be a sign of a Cave man house hold...the man dominating the conversation etc...

I think the second option is the most likely. It's sad though if she is just a trophy wife. I think (hope) that she is has good qualities that the rest of the Malfoy family seems to be missing. It would be great if she used Lucius's imprisonment as an excuse to get away from him and maybe reform Draco But that might be me and my wishful thinking that Draco comes off better in the end

Maybe, it was an arranged sort of marriage. high class broad gets forced to marry high class prick...la tee da, that whole deal.

Then again, maybe she's really the evil mastermind behind the whole VD project, she's his second in command, and she's the one who's gonna end up fighting Harry to the death, and will end in a dramatic sequence involving her confession of love for her oh so tainted son and her hate towards all things dark that have caused her to lose her most precious life. And then Draco will end up seeing the mistakes his mother made...and go into the fine arts and forget his past as a mean little coot and become a professional ballerina (a masculine one...) And Harry will...oh never mind, scratch that.

I kind of like Narcissa (yet) and I think she is to be better than her husband and child... (maybe because her related to sirius... ehh Ballatrix was to it didn't effect much) but there is a little clue about her being unliked by Rolling... in the 4th book when it saids she could be good lookin' if she didn't have that look that something smelly is under her nose...

A few points:

Belatrix is LV's second in command. She said that to Harry in the Atrium.

Personally, I would hate to see Draco leave the school. He is a perfect foil for Harry.

If you look at all the other married couples in the HarryVerse, the two partners seem to share the sames thoughs and attitudes as their mates. If this is correct, Narcissa would be evil also. Lucius would not be attracted to her otherwise.

She has to be at least a little bad because they said Kreacher went to the only member of the Black family that he had any respect for meaning she was most likely on the dark side.

Good point Lacey. I hadn't thought about that Hmmm.... I wish that we knew more about her, but all we have is speculation. I kept thinking that maybe since there hasn't been a lot written about her that maybe it meant she was going to play a bigger role in later books. Like the way neville and ginny werent mentioned too often, but now they're a big deal. But sometimes I wonder if I'm just looking into something that isnt there. Maybe Mrs. Malfoy wont play any rold at all and thats why she's not in the book that much.

Well, I figure that she is the evil nasty DE type... she was a Black after all, and still on the Family Tree... it kind of seems that anyone who holds opinions against the pureblood, Voldie is right type of thing, gets blasted off...

And would she have married Lucious if she wasnt' of like mind?

So, personally, I cannot see her as beigna good person trapped in a bad place... either she is a pretensious snob, like Vivian mentioned, or more that likely, she is evil and nasty...

Remember, Harry said parents at the World Cup, not just father... Maybe that was a little hint? And maybe she wasn't at the MoM with the rest of them because a) they only needed so many people and b) she had something else to do, or somewhere else to be???

Here's what we know about Narcissia:
1. she's a Black
2. She's married to Lucius Malfoy
3. She's the only member of the Black family that Kreacher has any respect for
4. She'd be quite pretty if it weren't for the scowl on her face

That's it. She hasn't said a word so far. We can't really know for sure what she's like. She could be a fanatic like Bellatrix, or she could be more subdued in her beliefs. We can't draw too many conclusions at this point. As Sherlock Holmes would put it: we're drawing conclusions without enough evidence.

I suspect her name says it all...
It is my prediction that Narcissa will be far more menacing than Lucius could ever hope to be. Narcissa has been like the general who plots stratagies inside a tent and then sends out a lieutenant to give the orders and relay messages. Now that her underling has been captured and thrown in jail for a time, she will have to emerge from the tent to give the orders herself and I don't doubt that when she does, many in the wizarding world will get a taste of her wrath.
