dumbledore and harry

Who do you like best and who could you definately live without? Will there be romance in the air for any of them and who will end up with who?

I agree with you, this was what I was thinking. I know that Harry will eventually have to become a killer to defeat LV, but I'm not convinced that Snape is truly bad (I don't want to believe that Dumbledore was mistaken) and Dumbledore didn't want Harry to kill Snape. Or maybe Snape is bad but he has important information that Harry will need to hear before Harry faces off with LV. As far as Malfoy, the book even said that Harry felt a little sorry for Malfoy. Malfoy didn't want to kill Dumbledore he just wanted to save himself and his family.

I don't want Harry to die in the next book; Dumbledore's death is going to make it hard to go back and reread past books. Harry's death would just about make it impossible for me to go back and enjoy the earlier books. It would be too sad.

I'm glad I found all of you guys, my friends and family (that have not read the HP books) are losing patience with my constant HP discussions. :D

I think DD knew that Harry wasnt ready to use the killing spells, like SNAPE said as he was running from the castle

harry takes things to heart too easily. snape knows that. even as much as harry hates malfoy, he was obviously upset over having hurt him so badly (and possibly killed him) with sectusempra. i don't think he'll have much regret over killing LV. he's been directly responsible for the deaths and injuries of almost every person harry has ever loved. he'll be ready to do what he needs to when the time comes.

I was rereading parts of the book when I came across this which didn't really make much sense the first time I read it. It is the last paragraph of Ch 23.

"But he understood at last what Dumbledore had been trying to tell him. It was, he thought, the difference being dragged into the arena to face a battle to the death and walking into the arena with your head held high. Some people, perhaps, would say that there was little to choose between the two ways, but Dumbledore knew-and so do I, thought Harry with a rush of firece pride, and so did my parents- that there was all the difference in the world."

I think that explains a lot. Not only Harry and Voldemort but also the whole thing with Dumbledore himself. I don't think now that DD was begging with Snape for his life, but rather for him to come back to good (which I don't think he thought would happen) and that was his way of holding his head high. He didn't run or have Harry try to help him or get on the brooms and fly away. Because Harry says his parents knew this and they died. Therefore, I think it applies to Dumbledore too and it helps that Dumbledore is the one who helps him to understand it.

DD froze Harry to save him. It was a split-second decision. He was already in a weakened state. Maybe he thought he could reason w/ Draco. He does always try to see the best in people and I think he knew that Draco wasn't gonna be able to do it. Maybe he thought he could get Draco on his side before the DEs made it down.

Then again, maybe he knew he would die. I don't like that, but DD would have sacrificed himself in a second if he felt that would give an advantage in the fight against LV.

I think the line where Draco lowers his wand is going to be very important in the next story and the fact that DD talked to him could be nearly as important as him saving Harry's life

In the 6th book Harry has become alot more closer to DD, and because of Sirius' death Harry has matured more...

It was really sad that DD died and Snape was the one who killed him...considering that DD always trusted him but like Harry and Ron, I've never been able to trust Snape...

That's what annoys me, though. Harry was constantly found out to be wrong about Snape, the moral being not to instinctively distrust someone, and to have faith in people.

Now she's going to turn all that on its head?

I don't think so, to be honest. Snape's still the good guy.
