Okay, here we should have some rules.
So I'll post, and Shadow can add on if s/he wants.
1) No making fun of members. Your character can make tease the other character, but not to the user directly.
2)You can control the persons character to an extent. Such as if I'm Adrian, I could say
Adrian watched Kelseys eyebrows shoot up beneath her hair. Her response to the question was one worth watching.
But NO killing/hurting the character without the persons permission. Capish?
3)Everyone is allowed to play with the original characters, so you can't yell at someone for playing with Draco if you've 'called' him.

4) Mary Sues and Gary Stues strictly prohibited.[/color]

Also, to add on, same rules apply as in the main rules. You can hurt characters, but only if it's a war, but no killing!

How about- NO GODDING?
Godding: Making a character do things without the author's permission. Or something like that. Does anyone have a better definition of the term 'godding'?

to add on to that- if someone is godding too much, then it'd be nice if you just let them know. because i'm paranoid that i'm going to be godding too much, since i'm new to rping in this style, and i want to know when i'm doing too much use of someone else.
but everything else sounds good. just basically courteous behavior, people!

Stickyfied - posts which do not fall within these rules will be moved to Zonko's (therefore expect a lot of stuff to go into Zonko's shortly).

That's exactly what I'm aiming to do with the existing RPG section and by moving much of the semi-role play stuff into Zonko's. The following guidelines will apply (as well as those posted already):
When posting in the RPG forum, posts should aim to be as if contributing to a continuing fanfic. Therefore posts should not be simply two or three sentence postings (unless in extremely rare occasions), as this simply results in massively long threads full of tiny posts which does not contribute to an effective or interesting storyline. Posts should keep in character with your character which you have posted in the "Characters" thread. Scenarios should also be true to the Harry Potter books. Postings which do not follow these rules will be moved to Zonko's.
Over the next few days I'm going to be very extensively moving posts or entire threads or sections of threads over to Zonko's, so they'll still be available there, but the RPG forum should be used in accordance with the guidelines in paragraph 2 of this post.

in my opinion i would say post should be wherever possible as near to proper english as you can manage, and as near to proper grammer too....
using things like "" to mark speach etc
i also think that people should have to mark posts with:
ooc: if they want to talk out of character
and
bic: if they want to move back into character after using ooc
makes it easier for people to follow the rpg

I´de like to do my own contribution to making the RPG a little easier to manage:
Spaech shoulg go in italics, my experience with on-line RGP-ing is that it makes it a bit easier to understand and follow. Actions just go in plain old normal type. I also suscribe myself "proper English" view (be it Brithish or American), so no "txt mssgs" (another example of what NOT to do).

Those ideas sound good. I think txt msgs should be dissuaded in the forum as a whole, and particularly here in the RPG forum.

and what about the "proper grammar" thing? I mean, there are many people here who aren't from UK or USA, so they (like myself) can ocasionnally write down some mistakes...
I hope you don't mind that much, though I'll try to write without mistakes...
