I honestly think that no magic school like Hogwarts would actually have "Defense against the Dark Arts" as a subject. I mean, when you think about it, isn't it ridiculous?! I know the concept is good but this is a school.

And hwy do they learn spells and stuff in it? I personally think there should be a Practical subject, one hour each week where they learn straight out of Standard Book of Spells, and are free to use the spells and practise openly.

History of Magic would certainly be an interesting class. That and perhaps a more political class to do with magic.

Has there ever been mention of a magical university? It escapes me now...

J.K.R said in an interview that there is no Magical University.

Really? Have you got a link maybe? Did she say anything about the primary school?

She never said anything about primary school, but since wizards seem to know how to read and write and do basic arithmetic, I assumed that they were either home-schooled or went to a muggle school.

Well I'm guessing home schooling would seem to be more logical here. After all, it seems that most wizards live outside of the urban areas, and not just in any rural areas but the very rural.

Hm... But then #12 Grimmauld Place seems to be in a city or suburb.

I'm quite sure they're home-schooled.

Which is why it doesn't surprise me, and leads me to think that muggle-borns almost should do better. Because they've been brought up in a schooling environment, and have learn the basics of muggle subjects (ie. maths, english language grammar etc.).

But then they'd probably only do better in subject like Arithmancy.... right?

I would've chosen muggle studies, if I'd seen it.

It'd be interesting to see muggles from a magical point of view.

Yeah it would, that would be a nice fanfic. Writing a curriculum of Muggle Studies. It could even be humor...
