I would have thought that books would be more widespread though.

Those that buy the toys, yes, buy quite a few probably, but there are probably quite a lot of people that don't.

Yes, but look at it this way: the books cost 30$ each right? Most have no more than six of them. Then think about all the children in the world that think Harry's cool, but don't like reading....

Oooooooo, thats good. But most of the kids that don't like reading but think Harry's cool either wait for the movie to come out, or get a friend to tell them about it, or get a parent to read it to them. Or maybe even one of those tape books.

Most of the kids who don't like reading don't like Harry. They try to mask up their inability to read by saying reading's uncool, and make fun of people who do read. Believe me, I've endured a lot of that.

You're correct.

Kids that don't like reading and aren't very good quite often do just say they don't because reading is uncool.

I've said it a few times I think:

I don't care what people think, nobody has a right to push their opinions on another person.

Anyone like that is allowed to think like that. But there's no reason to fight people that think differently.

They want to fit in.... they want to be popular... that's why there aren't that many avid readers in public schools, others say readings bad.... and even if they like reading, they want to be popular.

Hmm, there're always are few people like that.

The world just needs a few more famous sports stars/writers... :-)

Yes, that would just lift my spirits if Usher got a Ph.D :). We are such a media-run world, you need to be just like the super-star, it's sad.

Hmm, super-star means money I suppose. That's what most people aspire to have these days... :-?
