The Tale of Amroth and Nimrodel (lord of the rings)

Postby Siruk » Friday 9 September 2005 4:30:20pm

Here it is, though those who dont know what or where Dol Amroth is while have no idea what im talking about:

Dol Amroth was named for the King of Lothlorien before the time of Celeborn and Galadriel, whose tragic love for the Elf-maid, Nimrodel, led to his downfall. These lovers lived in lorien for a great while, but when Durin's Bane awoke within the Misty Mountains, Nimrodel and her folk became fearful and left their dwellings in the Golden wood.

Though he still found joy in Middle-earth, Amroth's love for Nimrodel far outweighted the love he had for his land, and, unwilling to be parted from her, he vowed to meet Nimrodel on the shores of Belfalas, from there to sail into the west together. Though Amroth arrived at the coast without misfortune, Nimrodel and her handmaidens became lost in Ered Nimrais. She did not come to the shores of the great sea and was never seen again.

Unaware of what had transpired, Amroth and his ship waited for days upon end, yearning for sigh of his love until one day, a storm blew up about the ship and carried it out to sea. As the shore faded into the distance, the crew of the vessel saw Amroth dive into the sae and strike out for land, riding like a swan over the waves.

Nevermore was Amroth seen, not upon the blessed shores of Valinor nor the coasts of Middle-earth. No trace remains of the lovers save the laces named in their memory, though it is said that when spring comes to Lothlorien their voices can once more be heard upon the wind.

I dont write it personally, it was written in a recent book compromising many of the histories of Harad, and the southern lands, and their fights with dol amroth up to the pellenor field.

recent :???:

i thought 'the lost tales of middle-earth' where as old as 'lord of the ring'. tolkien wrote them for the sylmarillion but he ended up with too many stories for that so they where published apart. i think

i realy need to sort my books out, i'm sure i have it somewhere

found it

(sorry about the double post but i can't seem to edit)

it wasn't 'the lost tales of middle-earth' as i thought but 'the history of middle-earth, the book of lost tales'. (i was close) and it was put in as a legend of sorts, and i'm not sure if it was in part 1 or 2 (i think in part 1) but i'm not in the mood to reread at the moment, so

'the book of lost tales' was the first major work of imagination by j.r.r.tolkien, begun in 1916-1917 when he was 25 years old, and left several years later. it stands at the beginning of the entire conception of middle-earth and valinor, for the lost tales were the first form of the myths and legends that came to be called 'the silmarillion'. embedded in english legend en english association, they are set in the narrative frame of a great westward voyage over the ocean by a mariner named eriol (or aelfwine) to tol eressëa, the lonely isle, where elves dwelt; from them he learned their true history, the lost tales of elfinesse. in the tales are found thhe earliest accounts and original ideas of gods and elves, dwarves, balrogs, and orcs; of the silmarils and the two trees of valinor; of nargothrond and gondolin; of the geography and cosmography of the invented world.

i'm not sure if you wanted to know all this but i put it in anyway

Its from a games workshop rulebook + story text for the LOTR table top game, though they put their best writers on making up all this background stuff :P.

Ah Siruk, so you play Warhammer, 40k, Mordhiem, Inquisitor, or something? Or just the LOTR thing?

PS: Games Workshop is really expensive, if you play Warhammer, i'd advise (if you haven't already) looking into tsome of the Dark Heaven models and other types, cheaper, better detailed, and cooler poses and models.

I have been playing Warhammer 40k for 5 years, and LOTR since it came out.

And I only buy modles slowly, I have amassed 1.5k points worth of Dark eldar over that 5 years, and buy unopened things off ebay for cheap prices, then swap them in store (you can do that even without a reciept)

While My LOTR all came off E-bay anyway.

Only thing ive bought from GW are the rulebooks.

And yes, its a massive scam.

a games workshop rulebook + story text for the LOTR table top game?
i rarely play computer games or playstation or that stuff and i do not read the manuals, unless it's something like hmm, diabolic, ...
my brother doesn't have any games from lotr so i can't have read it there

i can only conclude that those writers selected certain story's from the tolkien-book and/or adapted them slightly
how else would i know that story?

The story is one of the songs sung in one of the books, they turned it into a story with more detail in the book.

And It aint not playstation or computer game, its a minitures wargame using table top model armies, and the rule books are so you know how to use your army, what stats and points etc each thing is.

But since Un'anima doesnt want us to talk about this stuff, send me a message on the floo network if you want to find out more instead.

And this fan fiction!!!!
