What War Has Wrought
Not only has this war so vile
Brought death and pain uncharted,
But also has it wrought the bile
That has our world dishearted.
-
When did this corruption begin?
Why do we pursue it?
What prize do we intend to win,
And how do we construe it?
-
People divided,
And Nations destroyed;
We never cease to fight.
Opinions misguided,
And friends are devoid
Through our disgraceful plight.
-
Peace, we say, is our true goal,
But we can’t seem to grasp
That violence, which we extol,
Is what we should surpass.
