Sorry, this idea may make no sense whatsoever and i apologize if it has been brought up earlier. But think about it...he lives in the dungeons...hardly ever goes outside, and aren't vampires like Dark Creatures or something, and he could make all those potions to keep himself under control? And they have mentioned vampires in the book but not any specific ones...What do you think? Its just hypothetical, it would be quite neat if it happened.

It's not such a weird thing to consider! It could be the reason why Dumbledore doesn't let Snape have the DADA-teacher-job, because he essentially still is a dark creature. Oh wait, Lupin is in a sense such a creature too (werewolve) so that'd a bit awkward because he did get the job..

But vamparism is a permannet affliction and lancrythopy (sp!?) only affects you for 3-4 days a month.

But I'm sure Snape has been outside in daylight in some book so I doubt he's a vampire.

he was outside in the first book at the quittich game (or was that jsut the movie) when quirrell was putting a spell on harry's broom and ron and hermione thought it was snape.

yes, perhaps there is a potion...i mean he is a potions master...there is a potion for Lupin to take to control his ailments, perhaps there is a potion for Snape...

I'm still sure if it were true then something would have been mentioned by now. Like, Snape shunned away from the onion and garlic dip; or Harry suddenly noticed Sanpes prominent incisors..etc.

However, Snape was after Quirrell a lot in the first book....and Quirrell sometimes had garlic in his turban....could this be to keep away Snape?????

and his teeth are yellow...i dunno if that counts for anything

well somethimes JK doesnt hint about things until there are found out so that it is a big surprise...like in the beginning of 5th book with his neighbor(i wont spoil!)

The garlic in the turbin story was a rumour made up by the children...it wasn't actually true.
