The prophesy is in a way what started it all. If Snape had not heard the prophesy? Then he would never have told Voldemort and Voldemort would never have gone directly after the Potters. if he had not killed the Potters then Harry would have been a normal wizarding child. Would he still have been the one to kill Voldemort or would some other hero have emerged? Would someone different have killed Voldemort?

I think it was Harry's destiny regardless. If you believe that there is a purpose and a path for us all, then that could be true. A normal childhood would have never existed because Voldy would not have fallen out of power by being defeated by Harry as a baby. Harry would have grown up differently, for sure. But there is no reason why he wouldn't be the one to kill him. Everyone who was good was out to bring Voldy down.
So my answer is... drum role.... I think Voldy could have risen to a terrifying power and that Harry would have been part of a generation that would seek to overthrow him.
Which sets up the question... Would Harry have been good, or gone bad if he was brought up in the Wizard World... hmmm.....
