Ginny's love potion

Postby valkyrie » Monday 1 August 2005 11:47:40am

Love potion, as hermione said in slughorn's class "smell differently to each of us, according to what attracts us". Ginny's "flowery smell" is the same fragance that harry picked in slughorn's dungeon. If Malfoy can steal polyjuice potion from their potion class, Ginny can also steal Amortenia (love potion) to get her childhood crush. Does it mean Ginny used love potion to get harry? :???:

I think it's the other way round. The love potion smells of what brings out feelings of love in you. I suspect Hermione smelt something that reminded her of Ron, which is why she was suddenly quiet before she said the third thing it reminded her of. I suspect Harry didn't realise he loved / fancied Ginny at that stage, but becuase he did, the love potion, to him, smelt of her. I don't think she used a potion on him.

i agree with dacre. i don't think ginny would sink so low as to give harry a love potion . when she kissed dean and harry saw i highly doubt that his jealously was tampered with

No way. Harry's gradual realization of his feelings for Ginny were to subtle at first & then to... real & yet interwoven into his character to be a love potion. That would have been Harry suddenly pronouncing his undying love for her and obsessively persuing her at a drop of a hat.

The reason the potion & Ginny smelled the same to Harry was because of his feelings for Ginny, which he hadn't even recognized yet.

No I dont think that Ginny put Harry under a love spell. As glamourweaver said he gradually realized his feelings for her, when Ron had that potion he fell in love right away. Now I'm not sure that all love potions and spells would work the same way but it just seems likely that a they would work quickly and not over almost the whole year.

I dont think Ginny is the sort of person who'd do that its just not her...so I dont think she used a love potion on Harry because as people have said that Harry only just figured out that he loved Ginny more than a friend at that particular stage...

It says in the book she could get any guy she wanted.
I don't think she'd have to resort to any sort of potion.

Love is a strange thing. It's rarely something you see right away. sometimes your just thinking about how you're thinking about someone more than you used to and they make you smile like an idiot and then... slap, it hits you right upside the face. You're in love and there ain't no getting out of it
