Whose death is the saddest?

Did you cry when Sirius and DD died? Whose death do you think is the saddest ? I was really shaken after Sirius death because he was one of my favourite characters.

sirius' definitly affected me much much more. i've already accepted DD's death as something that needed to happen for harry to come into his own. but sirius? i still find it hard to read OotP. it annoys me too much and sirius' death really p***d me off. it was pointless and cruel and he was my absolute favourite character. it makes me angry....

Surely SB and DD held the same roles to harry as protectors, obviously Harry and SB was more father son unlike harry and DD which was student and mentor. But SB was worse as he was the first character was really close to harry. the fact that harry had no relations adn SB suddenly filled that void made it a harder loss.

I think the loss of DD is worse - Harry never really got to know Sirius as much as he'd have liked, and having him was a bonus. DD was such a blow - also don't forget there is now no-one who V is scared of - far more shattering I think.

I agree with that in respect to the wizarding world! As it now seems that no one can stand up to LV and he can now do what ever he pleases! but the fact that Harry's restricted in being allowed to let thier relationship flourish like peter getting away so SB cant be cleared and allowed out. Makes his death alot sadder as he was solely harry's and SB cared for him beyond anything else

Dumbledore's death had a worse impact on me. He was a well written character, and we knew he had to die, but when it hapened, it was heartbreaking. I cried much harder for Dumbledore, Sirius' death was more surprising to me, though. I knew someone was going to die, but I guess I never expected him

well i didn't cry for either, but i felt much closer to tears with sirius. but although it was sad cos DD and harry really had had a relationship over the years. sirius' was worse because their's was a budding relationship and both of them cared about each other so much. both of felt that the other was like the past brough back to life, sirius was a link to harry's dad and harry was like james for sirius. they had such a tender, budding father/brother/son relationship that it made it all the crueller when it was prematurely ended without being allowed to reach it's apex.

with DD both of them knew how the other felt so it wasn't such a blow. sirius' was definitly far worse. also for both harry and sirius it was like someone had come back from the dead for both of them they were both young and should have enjoyed so much more together. they had all these plans for the future and all their hopes were focused around each other. getting a house together etc. but it wasn't the same with DD, he was old and he had to die sometime. although it was hard to let go, it was expected.

ps- i'm heartless. it takes alot to make me cry.

I think DDs death was way sadder than Sirius. Sirius died fighting and he was more alive and normal than he had been in many many years. DD however died diminished. He was ill and wandless. Plus Sirius died without knowing it was coming but Dumbledore had so much time (during his talk with Draco) to let it sink in. Also Harry had always been close with Dumbledore but during this book they become closer than ever. DD treats Harry as more of an equal. Also I think it is sad because Sirius died but in the end the Order won that battle and it seemed his death was not necessarily in vain. However as we later find out Dumbledore died but his immeadiate battle (destroying the horcrux) was lost. Also we can be almost certain that had Dumbledore not drunk that potion he would've been able to defend himself and not died. But he drank the potion to get the Horcrux and that led to his ultimate demise and the Horcrux wasn't even real.

I found Dumbledore's death so... Gut-wrenching. I didn't cry or anyhting, it's not my syle, but I'm still annoyed at Malfoy for being such an idiot thinking he could kill him, and Snape for making the Unbreakable Vow.
I'm starting to think Severus has a little thing for Narcissa.

I was saddened by both deaths, particularly because they accomplished so little! That sounds harsh, but Sirius didn't manage to snag any of the Death Eaters with him, and DD was weak by a potion he didn't even have to drink. Plus, why immobolize Harry? He could have hexed Malfoy, and then they both could have joined the fight below together. Blasted, I am so upset/irritated by both of those seemingly pointless deaths, the only thing accomplished by them is that Harry is without a mentor/role model, which I suppose was the point of it all...Even if RAB turns out to be some great wizard/witch, it's a bit late in the series for HP to start trusting anyone new.
