Luna Again

Postby Gypsy » Sunday 13 July 2003 12:27:24pm

I was wondering, when Harry talked to Luna towards the end of the book, why did she keep going on about how she always finds what she has lost in the end. Is this some kind of foreshadowing, cos i dont see any real reason why JK included this in the book. Unless it was to show that Luna is eccentric, and that she is picked on by others cos they always steal her things.

Smith? All I can think of is a chain grocery store, but I doubt that's it.

hehe, I think mint meant 'something' : )

Has Harry lost something? His mirror, well it's not exactly lost but broken, but it might be repared? Perhaps he'll find something that's not material, more like uhm, a thought or such a thing, which he stopped believing in? For example that is dad was a nice person after all, though Harry's now questioning that for a bit..

This little episode was really out of the blue!

I thought that Luna has a Power! The power of attraction. I have no idea how this will come into play in bok 6 or 7, but it could be something.

She certainly is an odd one.

I thought that maybe it had to do with Sirius. Because Harry lost Sirius in the battle, and so maybe in some way Sirius will return to him (not come back to life, because he's dead and all...)

Yeah, I also thought it was because he lost Sirius...and the fact that just because he was dead, didn't mean he was gone forever...soon Harry will realize (I think) that Sirius will never be totally gone, as long as he remembers him and keeps his memory safe in his heart...this loving memory of Sirius will play a large role in the next books as it did in this book...

Sirius's spirit as in his undying fight for evil definitely won't disappear even after his death

I am convinced that we haven't seen the last of Sirius...his death was just way too sudden...and Luna's emphasis on finding what we have lost will probably come in the play in later books, where it is rumored that the truth behind death comes out. Sirius isn't gone' dead yes, gone no...and we will see him later, I am sure.

yes I agree with you meg I have been convinced that maybe Sirius will probably be in the books as a ghost.

I'm not sure as a ghost but perhaps through pensives, portraits, and perhaps Sirius left a diary...similar to TM Riddle's

Luna and Harry have a lot in common. They both watched loved ones die. Her attempt to get back her possessions are symbolic. Harry most desperately wants to get back the one thing he lost that he treasured the most - Sirius. But in the end, he'll find another person for love and attention.

Luna can teach Harry how to deal with the pain of losing a loved one. None of the other characters have lost a parent or the closest thing to it. Luna is odd, but she has experience in things Harry doesn't.

Yes,

Perhaps what it means is "smth" is not a thing or a person, perhaps its a feeling or a state of mind. Like Happiness will return to Harry or LOve will return or Confidence.
