Changing Opinion?

Postby Gypsy » Saturday 12 July 2003 3:39:03pm

After Book 5 I like James Potter alot less than I did before, and I was wondering which other characters people's opinions of have changed the most and why.

Ginny has become a really strong character in the 5th book.
She was a bit of a drip in the first few books when she had a crush on Harry, but now she seems to have got over that and we're getting to learn more about her personality. She is definately a Weasley!

Without a doubt, James. I knew about the Marauders' prank already, naturally; but to find out that he'd been regularly humiliating, tormenting and even physically harassing Snape really killed off what little bit of neutrality I had about him at the start. He's now on the Top 5 on my Wizarding hit list, right near Percy, Fudge, Bellatrix and Toadface (Umbridge, if you wanna get technical about it ;) ) I knew he always was Mr. Uppity Quidditch Hooligan to begin with, but enough is enough!

My opinion of Snape changed dramatically in this book. Not only because of the whole humiliation scene, but also all of the help he gave to Harry and the Order.

Now, if we only knew why Dumbledore trusts him so much...

I think all of the characters have really grown. I was especially proud of Neville.

I knew Percy wanted power (in [i think] CoS he buys a book and it is called Hogwarts Prefects Who Gained Power) but I had no idea he would be come such a prat to his family in order to get it...

It's definitely Neville in my opinion. Who would have thought a timid boy suddenly became so brave and stood alongside with Harry when he is branded a liar by most people.

I completely agree with you Meg, I always thought that Percy was a bit of a git, but I never would have believed that he would turn his back on his family like that. I thought that he admired Dumbledore and knew Harry well enough to know he wasn't lying. I'm expecting a huge apology from Percy in the next book and everyone else constantly reminding him of what a twat he's been for the last year every time he steps out of line.

I don't think after what Percy did that he will apologize...he is just not the apology type...I think he'll deny it all and still back up Fudge no matter what...i think reconciliation with Percy won't happen until the seventh book, if it happens at all...

I voted Dumbledore...you can see signs that he isnt omniscient and perfect, but signs of weekness and age.

But Meg--- Fudge knows that voldy is back, he'll be begging for Dumbledore's help now. Percy will have to follow suit, won't he?? I do realise that Percy isn't the apologizing type but over something as large as this he will have to.

I don't think Percy has changed very much. He has always loved power and the rules.
