question about the dementors

Postby Aule » Saturday 5 July 2003 6:22:45am

just a question about the dementors...the ministry of magic controls them, or so we are told in the beginning of the book, at harry's hearing.

Where are the dementors staying at? Aren't they still at Azkaban?

Now, assuming that the MoM controls dementors at the end of the book, not by voldemort, wouldn't the captured death eaters be stuck at azkaban? If this is true, wouldn't malfoy's prediction of death eaters escaping be false?

Just a thought, Aule

I think, at the beginning, the MoM still controls the Demeters. After all, Umbridge was able to order them to give Harry the Death kiss. But by the end of Book 5, I should think the Dementers had gone over to Voldemort, since they didn't go after the Death Eaters when they escaped from Azkaban, in contrast to Book 3, where they searched all over for Sirius when he escaped. Moreover, it's highly unthinkable that 10 Death Eaters could escape from prison in the first place without the Dementers' help.

Just a thought... the Dementers might already have gone over to Voldemort at the beginning of the book... and they took orders from Umbridge not because the MoM still controls them, but because harming Harry Potter was advantageous to Voldemort as well.

in my opinion, at the start of the books Voldemort was already incharge of the Dementors, but he wasn't wanting the Ministry to notice him then was he so he had the Dementors act as though there were still under the Ministry's control until it suited him, that way the Dementors let the Death Eaters escape and werent too helpful catching them (but then again maybe the Ministry didn't want a repeat of the several disasters the Dementors nearly caused when looking for Harry) and then once the Ministry knows of Voldemort the Dementors just walk out and go to some place Voldemort has for them.....

I think that you two are right when you say that the dementors halped the death eaters escape. For some reason, I hadn't thought of that. If there are no dementors in azkaban, and they are with voldemortm then the death eaters will escape, maybe easier the 2nd time.

I think that at the begining of the book, the dementors were probably still under control of the minestry, but soon switched to Voldemort, and that 's ehy all the death eaters escaped because they let them. And Malfoy probably is right about his father and the rest of them being able to escape now, brcause if the death eaters could escape once, they could do it again.

Well now that they've removed the dementors, they'll probably guard azkaban with aurors so it might not be as easy as you may think for the deatheaters to escape

Hey that's a good idea there Eol! But are there enough Aurors to do so?
Wasn't there somewhere in OotP about that there had been no new Aurors for the last few years? I wonder how many of them there are in total!

Maybe they'll use (hit) wizards from the Magical Law Enforcement Squad instead? It would be nice to see those death eaters in prison instead of breaking out!

I've just been thinking about the 6th book and I'm sure that the Deatheaters are going to escape, but i don't think it would be an easy one. I mean the book won't be as good without Lucius, unless Bellatrix turns out to be an amazing baddie to make up for it. Maybe Voldy will send in the Dementors to break them out, but I guess they won't be a match for fully trained wizzes, I mean Harry can take on two at a time.

There can't be enough Aurors to guard Azkaban, and help with all the problems that Voldemort is going to cause. Maybe the DA could guard Azkaban!!!

Maybe we'll see the return of Fluffy, or even Norbert to guard Azkaban!!

Nobert guarding Azkaban would be great!
Could you imagine Hagrid though - he'd be really worried of leaving poor little Norbert with all those nasty deatheaters!

poor little Norbert?! I don't know how long it takes for a dragon to mature, but at the rate he was growing at first, he'll be as tall as a mountain by now! :P

Hey, if dragons would be used to guard Azkaban we might get to see more of Charlie in the next book! Would be neat!

More of Charlie would be cool. Do you think the dragons would do a good job of guarding Azkaban, or would we end up with BBQ deatheaters?

Haha BBQ DE, a refreshing change from the usual dueling in the books! :Þ

Well I think that if the dragons are trained for the job, they could be very good guards! Those DE have no wands, no brooms, (so no Accio Broom! :P) what can they do against a huge dragon?

They can't do anything, but perhaps Voldemort can...
