Hermione is also a character in a Shakespeare play - A Winter's Tale.
She is a Queen who is suspected of adultery I think, and the King, her husband sentences her to death. Her name becomes cleared and the King feels really bad. In honour of her memory a statue is made of her, but when the King goes up to it, it turns out to be his wife and she never really got killed.

It's something along those lines anyway - it's been a while since I read it at school.
