Pettigrew's Debt

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

Once the spell was cast, Sirius and Hagrid couldn't have told anybody even if they did know.

Sirius was James' best friend. I would say confidently he knew exactly where Godric's Hollow was, and visited it regularly. Even in hiding...

The only issue I have with Hagrid knowing the location, is that we don't know how close he and the Potters were.

Would Hagrid have visited? Sirius would know, I certainly think so.

But I just don't know about Hagrid - there would be no harm in him knowing, because he couldn't tell anybody...

But would he have been told, or visted the location of the house, so he knew before the charm was cast?

Coincidentally, it's quite clear that Lily and James knew Voldemort was after them. They knew, therefore, that their chances of survival were slim.

An indication of this is James giving Dumbledore his invisibility cloak. The most obvious indication is going into hiding... but I think James consciously realised that if something happened to him or Lily, someone would need to find and pick up Harry.

That's why I nooow believe he or Dumbledore on behalf of him, let Hagrid in on the location of GH, before the charm was cast.

As another means of protection for Harry.

I always just thought of it as that they knew where godrics hollow was originally (in its rightful place) When the charm is cast it moves location and becomes invisible to anyone who doesn't know the secret. Once Peter told the secret the charm was broken and therefore became visible in its original location once again. Hagrid just knew where they usually lived.
I don't know if thats how it works but thats just what I thought.

I can't actually remember (my bad!) Is 12 Grimmauld Place actually on Grimmauld place while the charm is on it? Because you could say the same thing about Godric's Hollow, the people who know how to get to it that aren't the secret keeper can still refer to it as "Godric's Hollow" without revealing anything. Grimmauld Place is simply the name.

Yes it is but not because of the fidelius charm. Sirius's predecessors put loads of charms on the house before it was the Order's Head Office.

Well, Godric's Hollow is a village. So obviously there is a more precise address, just like there is for Grimmauld Place.

It being the number 12...

Apparently JK uses the number 12, 13 and 3 a lot. Maybe some significance there?

You could say the same for 7 as well... I don't know, perhaps they're her favourite numbers. Or perhaps people read too much into things.

I don't think most of JK's running bits are important, she just uses certain words a lot and doesn't come up with many alternatives.
