There ARE other ways to inflict pain curses on people; ones that aren't illegal and don't require the user to be sadistic enough to enjoy causing pain. The Conjunctivius Curse was enough to send put a dragon in misery. Perhaps next time Harry will use that one instead of Crucio.

If I was an auror though I would feel more inclined to kill a death eater rather than torture them. Torturing them would make you just as bad as them, but killing them would be for the greater good of the entire community, and so I would think aurors would be able to use avada kedavra than they could use cruciatus.

If I were Harry, and Bellatrix would have killed sirius, I would have enjoyed seeing Bellatrix in pain, i guess that's what Harry wanted.... he wanted REVENGE....
But, aurors just want to kill them, they didn't get their only living almost parent to get revenge. so they use the avada kedavra, much quicker and efficient, instead of staring at a death eater in pain...
But harry was so in rage that he did not care how sadistic he was acting... he would have killed her.
