harry's grandparents?

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

When did his grandparents come out of the wand? I just remember Cedric, the old man, Bertha Jorkins and his parents. But I´m quite sure his grandparents don´t turn up. :???:

There isn't any mentioning of Harry's grandparents except for a brief one in OotP

His grandparents are mentioned in the first book when Harry is looking in the Mirror of Erised. It says Harry sees his whole family there going back at least 2 or 3 generations. I cant remember exactly how far it goes back, but i know his grandparents are in there. However, this does not mean that they are dead. Harry has never known them, so thats why they are in the mirror too. When i read that, i inferred that they are dead because they are almost never mentioned.

not sure of jame's parents, but i dun thin lily's parents are alive, or else they would at least visit petunia or at least aunt petunia would mention them, no? also, why would dumbledore send harry to petunia if the grandparents are alive.

I guess that there is a lot of circumstantial evidence about whether Harry's grandparents are alive or not, nothing concrete. I hope we learn more though in the next book

azn wiz- thats a good point, but petunia has always had nothing but contempt for people in her family... i don't think she would talk about them, she never talks about anyone in her family except for lily once or twice

Well she says in the first book that her parents were so proud to have a witch in the family, and so probably resents the extra attention that Lily may have got when she came back from Hogwarts in the holidays and such.

Maybe Petunia dosn't like her parents, but although muggles they loved that lily went to Howgarts, so it would have made more sense for DD to give Harry to them when he was a baby. I don't think they're alive, just unimportant to the plot

that could be true... but if they were alive how could they not be unimportant in the plot? they can't be alive... or else harry wouldn't have gone to petunia... :-? . but if they are dead, how did they die? aren't they important... i mean, they're his PARENTS' PARENTS... :x i wish jk would talk about them even a little... this is really bugging me

They might have been killed by Voldemort in the search for Harry?
Didn't Harry and James and Lily escape from Voldemort 3 times before he got them in Godrick's Hollow?

Maybe they were staying with either James or Lily's parents one of those times? And maybe they, Harry's grandparents, died during that attack?

Lilly's parents must be dead because when DD explains the protective charm he says that as long as Harry can call the Dursley's house home where Lilly's only blood relative lives the charm will work.

Theese ''echoes?'' (is this word ok :???: ) of dead people appeared from the wand in the opposite chronological order - (all the Voldie's victims didn't have time to appear, just the recent ones, Cedric first).
So maybe Voldie (or DEs) murdered James' parents before he killed James and Lily? Not just because they were James' parents but because Voldie was exercising a genocide, he wanted to kill all the good ones. I don't think James' parents were in the order, just like Sirius' weren't the DEs. Maybe the older generation was too tired for a fight and didn't choose sides actively, just supported the Order or the DEs from the background???
