Knowing what you know from book 5 (spoilers)...

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

I'm going to re-read them one of these days. Right now, I'm too busy trying to get over a health challenge, find a day job and get my band gigging full-time again. HP might just have to wait a while, unfortunately. ;) I'm going to re-read what Lizzy had to say in this post later, though...some interesting ideas about foreshadowing there!

Alrighty, it's good I'm reading all these topics made while I was away, because this one soo really interesting. I have indeed begun rereading the entire series, started at nr 1, have almost finished nr 2 (haven't had that much time while actually on vacation, and not now because of this catching up, but after that I'll be reading a bit more). Anyhow, I had noticed the Snape thing about Harry thinking he was able to read his mind.

What I further have noticed, and seen in some topics (that's why I noticed)is that in CoS Ron says something about Malfoy becoming Head Boy. Well, I personally don't think that that is feasible, but it would be interesting, wouldn't it?

I don't think I've noticed very much else, oh there's some talking again in CoS about Snape knowing what Harry's done (when he throws the fireworks in Goyle's cauldron). Also, I have noticed things being said about Dumbledore being able to see in minds (as we now know he can).

There's one more thing that I find most interesting and it's about socks, but I'm not sure if should post in a new topic of it's own. It could be something big! I'll search first, to see if there already has been something posted about it.

I'll keep you updated! :P

Of course I'm re-reading the Harry Potter Books. I'm always..... 8) !!

Not in order. Sometimes before sleep, I catch a book, any of them, and open in a random page and start reading. I find it very interesting cause I read with all the attention i can get. And that's how i find some of the ideias to write here....

However, I do read them in order from time to time.

I know true fans of JKR, and don't get me wrong I love the books, might find this cynical, but after reading the entire series inumerable times, and OoP four times, I notice inconsistencies rather than foreshadowing. It is easy for JKR to expand on her earlier ideas.
The spells. We learn so many new encantations along w/ the learning students, but in nrs 1 and 2, some things could have easily been done that were difficult. (ie the Putouter, interesting-yet unneccessary; and when Quirrell couldn't touch Harry why not accio the stone?)
I think JKR got her big ideas once the two books got a lot of hype, and then she started planning ahead in book 3.
Just my thoughts. Feel free to prove me wrong

Well. I think that to summon the stone it would be required to know its location... which Quirrel didn't knew: the only thing he knew was that Harry was lying when he said he didn't had it)
You could find out some good theories in the Harry Potter Lexicon

(I would advice you to read this: http://www.hp-lexicon.org/magic_theory6.html. It's a great essay)

P.S.--As I read more of book 3, I'll be sure to post my thoughts and findings...hope I'm not the only one re-reading!  :o

believe me, you're not the only one... :double jump:
I've re-read the other books too, especially the 3d and the 4th of the hp series. And I should admit that I found the OoP very much different from the others...But I still can't say the exact difference between them. I've only read the OoP 2 times! But I think that we all miss some points in that book that will be revealed in books 6 or 7. What about Sirius death? the prophecy? the Luna mystery? the Snape mystery? (that remains from the 1st book but now is stronger) and so many others..?
The order of the phoenix is not so clear as the other books.

Forgive my english, guys, I'm from Greece...

reread

Postby Augusta Longbottom » Friday 12 December 2003 4:49:10pm

I normally don't reread books but reread books 1-4 starting a few weeks before the 5th was due out. And I just reread the 5th. So in all I have reread them all once but suspect I will delve into them a 3rd time shortly before summer when the movie comes out

I think I read my book 5 the most but after that book three. I have got to the really sad point in book five that I can pick it up and read random chapters.
I do think that you have different views on characters when you re-read earlier books, little things that they say (and by they I mean older characters not the students) that show how much they know about what happened that harry doesn't know about.
