The Phoenix Reborn wrote: He knew when he agreed to that Vow that he was agreeing to kill Dumbledore if Draco was failing. He knew it all along. And he still agreed.

Well, he knew DD would let him kill himself. I mean, DD knows that death isn't the worst thing in the world. He agreed to the vow because he knew DD would agree.

And as a little side note, how did Snape convince LV that he really was on his side. If he could've fooled LV, I think he's not bad at talking his way out of trouble.

1) Well, agree I think is the wrong choice... not too far off though, basically the same, I just don't like saying it.
If you must, I think Dumbledore only agreed because Draco's life was at stake and he felt as though Draco should play a larger part in the future than him, which he will (now).

and, 2) Beats me. Snape is definitely a superb legilimens, and probably presented him with a superb case. I think he must take into account his history for a moment.

Snape was the one who told Voldemort about the prophecy.
Now, I know Voldemort doesn't hand out browny-points... but if he did, I think that would have earned him a few. Maybe a tiny bit of trust.

What if Snape used that Occu-thing and saw inside DD's head that he should kill him.

Well that's the theory I've been using to *hopefully* knock down "Snape is Guilty" people. In that moment where Snape and DD looked into each other's eyes...

Lol, that thing I posted before, I only thought of it 5 minutes before and you've been here for ages using that theory.
But its a good explaination to prove he's not evil.

Yeah, wow I suddenly see how pathetic we are. Arguing over whether fictional book characters are good or bad  .

I prefer not to think of us as pathetic... we just care alot about hoping there is a catch. Like everything happened for a reason.

I prefer to think realistically. Try as Dumbledore might to believe death isn't the worst thing, there is one major truth. Barring certain circumstances, a man who is living will want to continue living. There is also a second reality. Dumbledore can't plan for every contingency, he is still mortal. We have seen Snape's bitterness and anger through the books. He hates Harry and he feels bitter everytime Dumbledore sides with Harry. IT's been like this for six years. Eventually, Snape would either go back to Voldermort, or have never left him. Occasionally, I throw in the idea of Snape as a faction unto himself, but in the end the only thing that makes sense to me is the idea that Snape wanted to make DD and his kind suffer

this has nothing to do with anything, but i thought it was kinda funny as i reread HBP, that he, as the hbp, used the elixer to create euphoria. but than i suppose that with the memories we witnessed in OOTP, he needed all the happiness he could get.

"hate" is a strong word. Snape never showed "hate" toward Harry.

There I disagree.

As with every individual, definitions of "love" and "hate" vary... however, it is my belief that theere is no true definition of either, it is simply what we choose to believe it is.

If we choose to believe from what we have seen that Snape doesn't hate Harry, then this is so for you.

However, the real truth with that would be what Snape himself feels. If you asked Snape, what would his true feelings be? That is the answer, and unless you can pry it off him, few people will know. However, I think it's fair to say he definitely loathes him.

Hate? I think so.

Harry towards Snape? I believe we've seen him say he hates Snape on many occasions. He definitely does now though, with the knowledge that SNape was responsible for Voldemort getting the prophecy.

I think it's accurate to say that Harry hates Snape, because we've read it to be so, and we get an intimate view of Harry's thoughts.

Hate does have different meanings, but most consider it to be a deepest loathing, or something like that, here's the dictionary definition:

hate, v., hat-ed, hat-ing. feel enmity; dislike greatly; detest. n. intense aversion. hat-er, n., -ful, a.

Don't you just hate it how you have to look up another word just to find out what the other one means in the description thing....... aversion?

Well, he knew DD would let him kill himself. I mean, DD knows that death isn't the worst thing in the world. He agreed to the vow because he knew DD would agree.

I don't really think you can ever tell if somebody is willing or ready to die. That's too deep... I don't think you yourself could say if you are ready or not to die. I'm thinking more that when he agreed to that vow he was more wilingly sacrificing himself. It was later on that Dumbledore decided that he should die. And plus I keep thinking about the twich when he heard what the vow was all about. I still think he wasn't expecting this part. With all the occlu-thing he can do. :D
