Just finished - am in shock

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

If that's true than I am a wuss and a wimp...I magaged not to cry when I read it to myself, but when I was reading it aloud to my kids, I cried from chapter 27 on to the end!

unfortunatly (or fortunatly? :???: ) i couldn't be in it cos it's really really takes alot to make me cry, especially in books. and i never cry in films (apart from dancer in the dark with bjork in it, THAT was sad!!!).

i didn't cry when sirius or DD died. and sirius was my absolute favourite charcater whose death i still can't accept, but i didn't cry?!? and DD was my 2nd favourite character, and i still didn't cry. i felt a bit stuffed up with sirius but my eyes have an inability to let tears fall. maybe i'm heartless and have no soul.... :-?

I didn't cry over the two deaths either, but I did cry a bit when I thought that Crookshanks had eaten Scabbers and we didn't know that Scabbers wasn't just an animal.

Someone (Tolkien?) once said that it's strange that people cry over shot horses in war films more than over shot soldiers. It's probably the ones who are innocent and trust us and can't protect themselves who we sympathize with the most.

Never thought about it...but you're right. What an interesting observation. Someone spoiled it for me that Scabbers would turn out to be a follower of Voldemort's, so I knew he wasn't dead, but I'm always very worried about Trevor. :)

I didn't cry when I read about DD's death, considering I've spent the past two years arguing it had to happen in book 6, I wasn't really surprised. But a week later or so, I flipped through Philosopher's stone to look something up and came across DD saying "I'm lucky it's dark, I haven't blushed so much since Madam Pomfrey said she liked my new earsmuffs." I had to swallow some tears, then.

I actually nearly cried when DD died, especially during his burial when Harry was remembering him. It was very touching and although I was expecting him to die, I didn't expect him to die in this way.

well as heartless as i am when it comes to horses i blub like a baby. black beauty endures as one of the most important books of my childhood, i was like 6 or 7 when i first read it and to this day, it's still the one book (apart from wuthering heights) that is guaranteed to make me cry, when ginger dies and everything that beauty goes through . ohhh i feel a bit stuffed up.

i've loved horses my whole life since before i could walk or talk so yes i would be one of those people who cries if i see a horse shot in a film, i don't give a damn about the soldiers though... :D

it depends on my mood
and my mood can easely change with some music

i'd rather plenge a few tears over something i read in a book then over something i see in a film, but still, i rarely cry when somebody dies in a book or film

This is off topic, but after reading thestral's post I am reminded of the scene in Dances with Wolves when the horse and wolf get killed. I was actually shaking with sobs and people were turning around in their seats to see who was making the strange gulping snotty sounds. I still can't watch that part of the movie.

i cry at anything where a horse gets hurt in it. the film version of black beauty is soooo bad, yet i still blubbed like a baby, i just can't watch horses in pain. also i cried at *whispers and glances round with shame*, spirit, stallion of the cimarron. yes laugh i'm sad. i'm 18 and cried at a childrens animated film about a horse. oh and hidalgo i cried at that, but viggo helped soothe my pain...
