I think Dumbledore

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

I think Dumbledore

I think Dumbledore was a bit foolish in weakening himself by taking the potion and then stunning Harry (his only defense when he was under attract) leaving himself completely vulnerable to attack

You've gotta think about the circumstances he was under though. He knew that Harry's life is more important than his own, so there's no way that he was going to let Harry drink the potion. As for stunning Harry, well once again that was making a sacrifice in order to save Harry's life.

Just a thought, if Dumbledore hadn't stunned Harry, he would have bought himself, what, one second of time to take out Draco in a non-lethal manner? In the state he was in, I don't think it would have been that easy.

Also, even if he did manage to disarm Draco, the other Death Eaters were on thier way and Harry, being the foolishly brave guy that he is, would get into the thick of it, risking (and probably losing) his own life. Dumbledore had to make sure Harry stayed invisible so that he could fight another day.

I think after seeing Dumbledore get hit with a lethal curse, seeing his broken body, attending his funeral, and seeing his portrait on the wall, Harry (and the rest of us) can be quite certain that Dumbledore's not coming back. :(

Yes, but if he was coming back, wouldnt JK make sure that we all believed he wasnt.

So we all die of heart attacks when he appears.

No, remember the phoenix's lament? The phoenix sang that song as confirmation that Dumbledore was indeed dead.

So how do you explain the Adava Kedavra curse, which not only struck Dumbledore, but knocked him off the tower where his corpse plummeted several stories before landing hard on the ground. Even if he wasn't initially killed by the curse (which is supposed to kill ANYONE), the fall would have killed him anyway.

And what about the funeral that everyone attended? Were they all "in on it" too?

What purpose would faking his own death achieve for anyone? It has alienated Snape, secured Draco's place among the Death Eaters and has made the rest of the Death Eaters more confident and pleased than ever.

And then there was his portrait. I don't think they could make one if he were still alive.

There was a typo.
Instead of Avada Kedavra, Snape said Avada Kedava, which knocks you out for a few days.

debate this...

Postby post_baseball89 » Monday 28 November 2005 2:54:50am

i think DD is dead
however i have a theory
what if it wasn't DD at all...???
he gave a willing servent a flask of Polyjuice potion, and they took his place...when HP visits DD, the pensieve is always open, right?
so the fake DD (FDD) knows everything that DD knows. when the FDD told harry to get his cloak before going to the cave, he sipped some polyjuice potion. also, at times when harry wasn't looking, he took a quick swig again, just a theory

also in HBP, DD tells harry that voldemort is afraid of the dark....just thought it was cool to know

later

i thought voldy was only afraid of death

post_baseball89, nice theory but i don't think dd would do that. i don't think he would sacrifice the life of someone else just so he can live. even if that someone was willing.
