He looked around to make sure there was nobody else there; the dormitory was quite empty. He looked back at the mirror, raised it in front of his face with a trembling hand and said, loudly and clearly, "Sirius."

His breath misted the surface of the glass. He held the mirror even closer, excitement flooding through him, but the eyes blinking back at him through the fog were definitely his own.

He wiped the mirror clear again and said, so that every syllable rang clearly through the room, "Sirius Black!"

Nothing happened...

It broke my heart, that.

And I loved Sirius's

Reading between the lines, I'd say she thinks you're a bit conceited, mate!

After Lily's told James she wouldn't even go out with him I she had the choice between him and the thing in the lake
Also great from that chapter:

Who wants to see me take off Snivelly's pants?

McGonagall's Best Line

Postby highsorcerer » Thursday 26 June 2003 10:10:21am

McGonagall to Dolores Umbridge
I should have made my meaning plainer. He has achieved high marks in all Defense Against the Dark Arts tests set by a competent teacher."

It's quiet interesting that despite two completely incompetent teachers (Lockhart and Umbridge), Harry is likely to get an O on his DADA OWL. Not much was ever said about Quirrel, but Lupin taught him a great deal, and Barty Crouch, Jr. (disquised as Moody) probably taught him more than he ever intended to (particularly since the skills he taught Harry were used against his boss, particularly shaking off the imperious curse). Even Snape taught him Expelliarmus. Of course, he also has a life experience in actually doing it, fighting Voldemort, dementors, and a whole mess of creatures in the triwizard tournament...

"They've demoted him from Cheif Warlock on the Wizengamot--thats the high wizard court--and they're talking about taking away his Order of Merlin, First Class, too."
"but Dumbledore says he doesn't care what they do as long as they don't take him off the Chocolate Frog cards."

i also love the one about dumbledore having style, which was already mentioned...i laughed for 10 minutes after that one! heehee

i can't think of too many others right now and the book is too big to go through it and look... but im sure there's more..just cant remember them

This cracked me up, too  ...along with several other quotes! What made it even funnier for me was I immediately imagined Alan Rickman (who plays Snape in the movies) saying that to Daniel Radcliffe in his usual, deep, droll voice. He (Rickman) was so wonderfully cast as Snape! :D
