Book 5 is darker (no spoilers - just an interview)

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

I dont know how old this is, but I do know that JKR has been saying the OoP will be darker then privous books for months now so nothing new to me here. But to be honest if you think about it, I can't see how it could'nt be, I mean Voldemort has rised up, a big charicture is going to die and at the end of GOF it sounded like Dumbledore was getting set up for a great fight, so yes its going to be darker.

Im sorry  I did'nt mean to kill your post, you just asked what we thought, and i gave it to you, but don't despair people could always put in ways that they think it will be darker on here, that way its a thread saved.

Mint, I think (if I may be so bold to interpret Boycey) Boycey wasn't insulting the interview as much saying it has truth to it...that how could it not with what culminated in book 4? One of the most aggrevating things about some interviews (and *not* this one--I just read it myself! :D ) is that you don't know how much validity the person being interviewed necessarily has.

Seeing as the illustrator had to read the book in order to then make the cover for the book, she obviously has an insider perspective and, given the date of this interview, couldn't afford to spoil anything. Now that I've read book 5, I have to say she was completely right about the cover expressing the mood of the book...so really, I think Mint, you gave us an interesting interview to read, and Boycey, you were correct in saying that given the events of book 4 and what was likely to happen in book 5, a darker tone was inevitable.

I really like Mary GrandPre's work on all of the covers, but I feel like the way she draws Harry changed drastically between books 3 and 4 (a change for the better, mind you!). The first three books...I dunno, something about Harry just doesn't look quite right. These last two, however...excellent work. :)

I agree, the first three bokks Harry seems to be like a bad drawing.
