What happened in those nineteen years?

Which one is your favorite so far. Are they getting even better as the characters develop over time?

Hey, it seems like Rowling gave another interview and clarified even more on what happened during those 19 years. I'll type out some of the more important revelations:

- The Malfoys did not go to Azkaban. They weaseled their way out of trouble (again) due to the fact that they colluded (albeit out of self-interest) with Harry at the end of the battle. (I assume she's talking about how Draco's mother lied to Voldemort that harry was dead?)

- Hermione began her post-Hogwarts career at the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures where she was instrumental in greatly improving life for house-elves and their ilk. She then moved (despite her jibe to Scrimgeour) to the Dept. of Magical Law Enforcement where she was a progressive voice who ensured the eradication of oppressive, pro-pureblood laws.

- Teddy was raised by Andromeda. However, unlike Neville, who was also raised by his grandmother, Teddy had his godfather, Harry, and all his father’s friends in the Order, to visit and stay with.

- Kingsley became permanent Minister for Magic, and naturally he wanted Harry to head up his new Auror department. Harry did so (just because Voldemort was gone, it didn’t mean that there would not be other Dark witches and wizards in the coming years).

- Ron joined George at Weasleys’ Wizarding Wheezes, which became an enormous money-spinner.
I thought Ron was also an auror??? maybe he's both...

- After a few years as a celebrated player for the Holyhead Harpies, Ginny retired to have her family and to become the Senior Quidditch correspondent at the Daily Prophet!

- Luna ended up marrying (rather later than Harry & co) a fellow naturalist and grandson of the great Newt Scamander (Rolf)!

- When Dudley was attacked by the Dementors he saw himself, for the first time, as he really was. This was an extremely painful, but ultimately salutory lesson, and began the transformation in him. That was Dudley's worst memory.

- The reason why Snape's portrait was not with the Headmasters: Snape had effectively abandoned his post before dying, so he had not merited inclusion in these august circles. However, I like to think that Harry would be instrumental in ensuring that Snape’s portrait would appear there in due course.

- The new improved Percy ended up as a high-ranking official under Kingsley.

- George would never ever get over losing Fred. However, he names his first child and son Fred, and he goes on to have a very successful career, helped by good old Ron.

- Harry loses the ability to speak parseltongue after he's no longer a horcrux, and is very glad to do so.

- Umbridge was arrested, interrogated and imprisoned for crimes against Muggleborns.

- There would be a kind of rapprochement between Harry and Draco, in that Harry knows Draco hated being a Death Eater, and would not have killed Dumbledore; similarly, Draco would feel a grudging gratitude towards Harry for saving his life. Real friendship would be out of the question, though. Too much had happened prior to the final battle.

Whew... that sure answers a lot of questions...

He is talked to and called by name in the OotP movie though

The book would have been too long (for the publishers, I'd love a really long one!) if she included every detail. And it wouldn't have flowed like a novel. I think that's why she's going to write the encyclopedia. The questions she answered on the online chat are only a small amount of the questions people have. There were over 120,000 questions submitted.

Yup Duckie is exactly right. She's submitting the encyclopedia because she knows we want to know more and she wants to attend to our needs. But as Duckie said too much information would have made the novel too overbearing.

Why are people saying that the epilouge was rubbish?!? Just because Jk didn't tell us everylittledetail if she had done then this website would be a bit pointless? She did tie up MOST unanswered questions just not every single slightest thing... She probs will.. IN TIME!

It was a bit boring though and she didn't really say very much at all, at the time there was no website or interviews to add more info either, on its own I don't think its very satisfying. Also she made a huge continuity error with Lupin's son being at the train station cos its 19 years later so he should be 19 since Tonks died in the fight so he can't be younger than 19. That means he must have finished school, Harry started on his 11th year and there are only 7 years. He can't be running around and playing with the kids surely.

I know she fixed the error in book 4 and reprinted but I don't think anyone said anything about the one at the end of book 7.

P.S. Please try not to double post.
