When I read it, I didnt believe that it was James, but I wasn't sure of the Snape factor. J.K usually throws in curveballs, that totally surprise the reader.

Well, crazy enough, I actually thought that Trevor was the Half Blood Prince. You know, Nevilles Toad. Well, you all know the old fantasy tale about if a Princess kisses a toad it turns into a Prince, thats how my theory configured. And with the whole Scabbers turning into Wormtail thing, I thought that it was indeed possible. I guess I was wrong though, still, Snape fits the title, hes the most interesting character throughout the books.

After reading about the potions book I actually thought of Snape, but after Harry thought it couldn't be James because the book was very old, I also thought it couldn't be Snape then.
