I thought the Ministry of Magic part in OotP was freaky. Being lost in a huge, obscure place like that with Death-Eaters everywhere would be really scary. :-(
Voldemort's return was also quite terrifying.

I thought Voldemort's return was the scariest. You've just seen a full powered Volemort kill for the first time and Harry's all alone. :o

I would say at the end of GoF in the graveyard. I'm skeered to read it at night before I go to sleep!! It's just the fact that Wormtail cuts off his own hand and stabs Harry in the arm and kills Cedric. It's too much for me to read at night.

Voldemorts return was the scariest thing I'd read. I phsically gasped in horror when he said 'Kill the spare'. This was the first time we'd really seen what (as in 'live' in the books) he was capable of, because you don't really get the full gist of it in the riddle house when he kills Frank Bryce.

Scary stuff.....

--> that's my second most scary scene.

The scariest is for me when nobody but Harry hears the Basilisk, sth. like this: ''.. let me tear you, let me rip you, let bloood run, bloooooooood ...'' - I mean, when you read it for the 1st time you don't know where the voice is coming from - this is the most frightening *shaking in the corner of my room:P*

another one: everytime Mrs. Black shrieks  Well, I'd deffinitelly wince but then I'd try to shout her down

Voldemort's return is very freaky how they describes it any thing with voldemort, death eaters, dementors, or sirius's escape is freaky

I thought that the Dementors in POA were the scariest things so far in the series. I can see why Harry is more afraid of them than he is of Voldermort. At worst, Voldermort can torture and kill him. The Dementors on the other hand, can torture him and then leave him to live out his life completely empty (shudder). They can do far worse things than anyone else can. They also seem to be one of the few villians that are beyond reasoning with.

I voted for Voldemort's return. The flesh, blood & bone scene chills me. Extremely well written, it's probably one of the top 5 fav scenes from the HP books for me.
My second most scary wouls have to be the portrayl of Harry through the Eye of the Snake.
