Moving...to China

Postby Marcus Baker » Sunday 18 April 2004 9:53:07pm

I have been living in Brazil for 4 years now, but now i ahve to move because of my dads company. I am moving to China, which is on the other side of the globe. Its in Shanghai, the buisness central of China. I just wanted if there was anyone who had to move such a great distance from your friends, where talking to them on the phone or istant messeging will be hard. And is there anyone in Bao who lives near china?

I've never moved in my whole life. and I'm not a Chinese, but I'm sure there are some Chinese here. I've read it somewhere in the language thread.
Moving is a difficult thing for everyone - specially so far - but I'm sure you'll meet new, great friends there, see China (wow!), and learn Chinese(wow, again) - I supose you don't know it yet.
I hope everything's gonna be alright.

Sorry for not being helpfull

Yup, but I don't live in China. But here, in Singapore, I think it is in the same timezone, maybe 1 or 2 hours diff. That way, Marc, you can chat with me through instant messenging
I can teach you some basic chinese word hehehe but not the language itself because there are 4 tones in every sound...and Shanghai chinese is a bit different. It is more of an accent problem because they tend to roll their tongues and pronounce the word slightly different.

It is hard for you to get used to the weather. Brazil, like Singapore, is a tropical country. (lying near the equator) But China isn't. Not sure, if you can experience the extreme seasonal changes (like snow) but the temp can drop to about 15 degree Celcius. (and that is cool for someone used to hot, sunny weather)
