Triumph in his eyes

Postby FawkesthePhoenix » Saturday 22 September 2007 5:55:24pm

in the 4th book, when harry tells dumbledore about voldy using his blood, for a moment, he thinks he sees something like triumph in dumbldore's eyes. could this have been because dumbldore knew that voldy had chained him to life by using harry's blood?

Yes. I believe it is because of the very reason Harry didn't die in the Forest, that night, and Dumbledore suspected it. He did indeed chain Harry to life.

Dumbledore was glad at this fact, that ment he could not kill harry altogether unless he killed himself. Of course harry didnt know this so harry was worrying more than needed and voldemort seemed to know how it all would end..

As far as I noticed, Voldemort didn't have a clue how it would all end up, because he outright killed Harry.

Was Harry a Horcruxe? This is an interesting subject, because from what i understand, Harry was the last place Voldemort's shattered soul was hiding, and by killing harry, Voldemort killed the last part oF HIMSELF.

Is that right?

JKR explained that Harry was a sort-of-horcrux. Harry did have a bit of Voldy's soul in him that Voldy killed when he tried to kill Harry in the forest. But people didn't get cursed when they touched Harry like they did with the other Horcruxes. JKR said that for the purpose of the book, she had DD say that Harry was a horcrux, but he only sort of is.

Voldy's soul was so unstable that when he tried to kill Harry and the curse backfired on him, a piece of soul broke off and attached itself to the only living thing left in the house, Harry. But Voldy did not mean to do that. I think to create an actual horcrux, it has to be done on purpose.

Hmmm.... yes. Creating a Horcrux, a proper one that can cause harm to others must be done on purpose. Still, it was a nasty surprise for Voldemort that Harry carried the last part of him that was human. No wonder Harry felt so much pain when Voldemort was around! I think he actually FELT what was like Voldemort's conscience!

Yes very good point, but I think Dumbledore is smart for not telling him because if he did, he would know he would have to die.

And that's the whole point of the Chapter with the pensieve (and it tells that Snape's good). A whole chapter to tell Harry that, "Harry must die."
