in the deathly hallows story, i says that the third brother wanted the cloak so he could hide from death until he's ready. when james was killed, dumbledore had the cloak. and harry escaped from voldy so many times. maybe that's because he owned the cloak?

good point. And Harry excepted death, at one point, so he died (sort of ) I don't really think this can be answered, but I like that thought....

I'm not sure if J.K. Rowling herself can evenn answer it. Because who can say exactly when Harry inherited it.

I don't think the reason James died is because DD had the cloak. DD gave the cloak to James a while before he died.

I do like the idea of how Harry escaped death so much was because he had the cloak, that's an interesting theory.

Yes... it's an interesting point. But whatever you say, the only reason Harry escaped from Voldemort so much was through Riddle's arrogance and ignorance, and then when Voldemort finally did face Harry, Harry had used all that time to get the upper hand, and to learn what he needed to know. And so Voldemort was defeated through his own blindness; he did destroy a part of his own soul when he attacked Harry in the Forest, and then finished himself off again in the castle.

All that time Harry could never die because his blood was in Voldemort's veins, and before the Forest Voldemort could never die because his soul was in Harry. But in (not) killing Harry (but killing his own soul instead), he made it so Harry could live for as long as Voldemort did (as his blood is in his veins), but Voldemort wasn't tied to Harry anymore (because the bit of his soul in Harry was destroyed), so Harry could kill him.

What am I going on about? Sorry, just got a little carried away! Nothing to do with the topic really, directly anyway.

This is a slightly random thought: You know how Harry and Voldemort share blood? Well they should have AIDS because of it. They're blood brothers!

They'd only have AIDS if one of them had AIDS to begin with. Just because you mix blood doesn't mean you'd get AIDS, you'd only get it if the other person already had it.
