WHO FOUND HARRY

Postby KAD » Saturday 10 December 2005 2:06:39pm

Who actually found Harry when he was a baby and if the hose was destroyed then how come he wasn't burried under the rubble?

I always assumed it was just hagrid, but now that i think about it it had to be an auror. I don't remember what was said about the houses destruction, but LV would have had to destroy the house before attempting to kill harry, so harry would have been on top of the rubble. LV was weak and as dead as he could have been so he would have just fled.

I've always assumed that the House was destroyed due to the attempt to kill Harry. Since the unforgivable curse did not work, it richoched off Harry's protective shield and destroyed the house in the process.

If Hagrid did find Harry, it begs to question, in what time frame did this all occur; Hagrid's flying from Bristol towards Privet Drive, and McGonagal/Dumbledore's presence at the site.

After all McGonagal said she watched the muggles for a whole day. So were his parents killed the day before or on the day of?

Hmm I assume because McGonagall was there waiting for Dumbledore in that place, Harry must have already been killed in the morning before she arrived.

Personally I'd say very early morning on the same day as the DD/MM scene. Harry did fall asleep over Bristol, so it must have been early morning or late at night the night before.

Who knew Harry was in trouble? Well I'm sure Dumbledore would have sensed a disturbance or something! He knows everything!

??? don't think dd would have known - james and lillys whereabouts was protected by a secret keeper - PP. I don't think dd would have known where they lived, no one would have known except PP.

I think the atack took place at night or something. And it probably took a while before they could get Harry. Which means he got at the Dursleys only the next night. And Prof Mcgonagal had time to watch the Dursleys. Then I don't really recall the house being destroyed or something. Was it for real? I don't really remember that happening.. :)

And on how they found the house. Well it must have been the dark mark all over it. You know how LV likes to make an entry. So they probably heard about the atack and they (Somebody must have spotted the mark). And when they got there they saw what had happened and who had been killed.

Well, it metnioned that LV destroyed the house. What's odd is that "Avada Kedavra" is supposed to leave no mark, let alone destroy a house, I wonder how that happened.

I don't think there was time to send the Dark Mark up. I'm sure I read that the dark mark was cast over houses that the DE's had already been to. I can't imagine that it would have been cast that night because LV didn't survive to do it. If Wormtail was there, he would have been too frightened to cast it, If Snape was there (if we assume he is evil) I can't believe he would have cast it because he would have just lost his master. If Snape was there (if we assume he is good) he wouldn't have cast it either.

This is really intriguing but I'm sure that muggles who live in GH would have reported disturbances that would have got back to the ministry.

I think the house was destroyed because the curse backfired and created some sort of explosion.

I do think the death eaters casted the dark mark when entering a house. Not when they were leaving it. Or else how do you explain the dark mark over Hogwarts when the DE were there?

It's also never been blocked but Harry's head did it.

I've got a funny feeling that many on this board have been touching on the truth of the matter. That Voldemort WAS going to create a Horcrux with Harry's death, as he had time to do the special incantation and therefore the spell was slightly different. THAT combined with Harry's protection, allowed Harry to repell the spell but not totally. It didn't create a Horcrux (because no-one died) but it did leave a little bit of Voldemort in him.

The rest of Voldemort's spirit was ripped agonisingly from his physical body, destroying most of the house.

ok good theory, but y wasn't harry harmed when the house was destroyed. he was just a baby so if something fell on top of him i.e. bricks, he would have been injured
unless whoever was there that night (another theory) took him to dd?

Perhaps, I'm living in too much of a realism, but the amount of time it would take to respond to the death mark (if there had been one) and getting Harry out of the destroyed house, would be at least hours. Unless as someone said, there had been someone there the whole time, which begs to ask another question. Why weren't they killed by Voldemort or his followers (if they had been near the scene)?

Unless the house actually survived but whoever was there as well, took Harry out the house, and then cast a spell to destroy the house - perhaps to cover tracks? Perhaps they couldn't bear to leave him alone in the house?
