More to Fred and George than meets the eye?

Postby Asphodel » Friday 18 November 2005 5:51:18am

In the fourth book at the world cup when they were gathering firewood, Fred and George say, "It took you ages," when it should have taken them both equal time. Furthermore, Fred and George had predicted that Krum would catch the snitch, but Ireland would win. They were so sure, they bet their life-savings on it. When the DE's attacked, Fred and George were no where to be seen. Perhaps, our little twins were doing a spot of time traveling.

Nice ideea  I wouldn't be surprised...Though I really have no ideea what to answer to this poll...

Though travelling through time is possible(in the wizarding world). We have already seen that in PoA. Maybe they just found a better way to do it...

Knowing them, they probably invented some special kind of time-turner.

Hmm that would be interesting! this might be one of those lovely straws I've seen all over the site but wouldn't this be fascinating!

Harry goes back to Godric's Hollow, he has sourced a Time-Turner sweet (or something) from Fred and George, he goes back to that fateful night, discovers something really important about Lily and that there was someone else there...

(BTW this is only a fun theory not really meant as fan-fiction!)

Or maybe he even goes back in time and he finds out that he was the reason he survived. Like no matter what he does he can't save his parents but he saves himself... And all is jus a vicious time traveling circle paradox...

I'm not sure how J.K.R would put it in the story though. F&G just come up, "Oy, Harry! We have these special sweets that will put you back in time!"? She needs the trio to find them probably.

Wouldn't necessarily have taken them equal time to gather firewood, it would depend on whether or not they split up and where each looked. Having slept under the stars myself I know that the tedium of finding dry wood in Britain is second only to that of starting a fire with wet wood.

You do remember, that the twins are capable of doing that, don't you? Wands make starting a fire a breeze, I'd assume

I think they were not allowed at the World Cup, were they? They had to be careful because of the Muggles.

Yeah, they said they were doing it muggle style and ended up using an excessive number of matches to get the fire going.

Okay, i thought we were referring to a different point with a fire

"It took you ages"

This is an exxageration. People are allowed to use them. On top of all that, Harry Ron and Hermy made a rather large number of long detours. It's not surprising that the twins would be annoyed at having been made to wait that long. So they employed a masterful use of the art of the hyperbole

Yes, but they way they smiled when they said, "It took you ages," and how Ron just coincidentally (there's no such thing as a coincidence in J.K.R's books) tripped on a tree stump. Wouldn't the twins just love to play a little prank before heading out?
