Theories for Book 6

Postby carsten » Tuesday 17 August 2004 5:25:41pm

Let's sum up, what we have now:
  • A likely canidate for the HPB (title of book 6) is G Gryffindor.
  • Director Alfonso Cuaron related, that a graveyard will become important in book 6/7.
  • A new MoM will be assigned. We don't know, whether the good or the bad guys will take over the Ministry. Athena suggested, that the position may even stay vacant for a while.
  • LV was always the one to make the first move. In PS/SS he tried to improve his situation by getting the stone for himself. In OotP he tried to get the Prophecy. Does he need more things to prepare the war for a new kingdom? Or will the war finally start?
  • Many wizard's homes are poorly protected. Will he wage a war against people's homes?
  • Will he turn Harry's love interests against him?
  • We don't know how muggles, wizards, giants, and other groups will get along in times of war, but this may be needed.
  • How effective will the new DADA teacher be? A good one would help.
  • It is still a stormy affair between Harry and Snape. This should change before the end of the series.
  • Circumstances of LV's birth will be related.

My theory: LV will send someone off to Hogwarts to do something nasty with GG's grave on the school grounds. His fellows will take over the MoM. A civil war among wizards will begin. Other groups - like giants - will have to choose a side. Harrys love interest will be used against him. He will have a lot of trouble to get out of this.

And JKR will have a lot of trouble to meet all these ends.

Every theory i come up with is more unlikely than the one before it. As for the grave thing, i think that LV is above vandalism. Could it be the grave yard of Harry's parents. Could it be the grave memorial for Sirius. We've already been to the grave of Voldemorts dad. So many questions need answering. I am going to pull out all my hair before the next book comes out.

Well Harry's parents were never actually found. Like their house they were completely destroyed so I am not sure that there would be a grave or for Sirius for that matter.

I am surprised that there would be a graveyard on the grounds of the school. In five years at Hogwarts how could our trio fail to mention or investigate a graveyard on site!?

If there is a graveyard perhaps it is hidden somehow and Hermione will be the only one who really knows it's there because of course she has read Hogwarts A History and surely if there was a graveyard hidden or otherwise on the grounds it will be mentioned in this volume.

I imagine that we will find out more about Voldemort through some long winded soliloquy like the one in the Graveyard at the old Riddle house. He does like to talk!

As to the MoM. I am saddened that it will not be Arthur because he would have been my choice. What if the bad guy (Lucius Malfoy for instance) Does a Crouch/Moody and becomes as it were Cornelius Fudge. That would be an interesting twist and give Voldemort the access he would need to really gather the weapons and info that he needed to arm his side of the war.

The actual war I believe will take place in Book seven, IMO to stage it sooner would either make the war too long or the last book anticlimactic.

I don't know what to think about the turning of Harry's love interest against him theory. I hold to the theory that Harry and Ginny belong together and having Ginny turn against Harry in any way is simply wrong and I would certainly not expect any such a thing from Rowlings.

Harry and Snape may start to form a grudging respect for each other in book six that will lead to an essential alliance in book seven.

So these are a few of my thoughts on the subject.

My favourite choice for Harry is Luna. Never mind. :) Turning such an interest against him could be as easy as hostage-taking or sparking jealousy. :x There is no need for betrayal or such a thing.

I wonder what did happen to the body's of harry's parents. Cedric didn't vaporize when he recieved the curse, so the bodys must be somewhere, unless he fed them to Nagini. They could still make a monument to them, in rememberence of all they did for the order.

I definitely think the war is about to fully break out. At least the last chapter of OotP is called "The second war begins".

As for Snape and Harry...I don't think they'll develope some kind of mutual respect of understanding for each other. It's explicitly said on one of the last pages of OotP that Harry feels a kind of hatred for Snape that is beyond anything he feels for anybody else (and that AFTER Bellatrix killed Sirius). There was a rumour saying Snape will play an important role in book 6...and personally, I think their relationship will even get worse (as JKR said: Keep an eye on Snape!).

Indeed! It is still possible that Snape is a double agent. He could spy for both sides. And it is not for sure what his true loyalties are. I know, I know...DD trusts him, but he is not infallible.

it is true that the last chapter in OotP was entitled the second war begin.
but it can refer to the plans involved in the making of the war, not neccessarily a physical war itself.
it is more of a psychological one - striking fear in wizarding community especially after MoM announced Voldemort's return and the distrust between wizarding community as well

ahh hmmmm...

hagrid will die...i dont know why, but its a feeling in my bones
maybe voldy wont go after godric's grave, but slytherin's...perhaps sumthing is hidden there to aid him
of course ron and hermione will hook up
i agree, the giants will have to take sides...but only perhaps after hagrid will die (if he does)

actually theses are predictions for book 6, not theories exactly....but there you are :D

Here are my predictions about what will happen in book 6 and 7:

-Dumbledore will die (end of book 6)
-Voldemort's power will temporarily exceed that of the order
-Karkaroff will return
-Karkaroff will be killed
-Ron and Hermione will hook up, but not as a kind of happy ending (you know, the "they lived happily ever after"-kind of way), rather leader to further estrangement of Harry and his friends
-there's more to Snape than meets the eye
-There's another spy among the Death Eaters (when LV announced he was going to kill the two persons that betrayed him, he didn't give their names away. Why? Fear?)
-One of the Hogwarts teachers has a family which bring him/her into trouble (JKR said in an interview that the fact whether a teacher has children/is married etc is top secret and we'll find out why in the next books)
-Nyphadora Tonks, or rather the fact that she's a metamorphmagus, will play a bigger role. Somebody said he could perfectly imagine e.g. Dumbledore fighting against a DE, getting hid by a curse and die. Then, the dead body turns into that of Tonks...amazing theory, I think.

Another important point: The issue of killing
I don't think this should be underesteemated. I think taking someone else's life can change people forever, fill them with grief or with doubt, or even attract them to the dark arts. In the course of the war, it will quite necessarily come to a situation in which a good one has to kill as an act of defence. Who will this be? Harry's quite likely, but can he cope with that? My other guess is Hermione, in order to protect someone.

nice points there carsten!

i am worried about the snape-Harry relationship, my personal feeling is that it'll become more sour.. but snape will sacrifice his life to save harry and in the process.. fully repay himself of James' debt. it is at that moment that Harry will feel some respect of snape.. (this idea was inspired from one fanfic that you wrote.. Siana :) )

i dont think Karkaroff will have any more part to play.Tonks i agree will play a bigger role in book 6.

Thanks Groo! :)
I don't think that Karkaroff will play a major part, just like: "Oh, there's Igor! Oh, now he's dead..." Maybe he won't even show up alive, but I definitely say he'll die.

  • This is something I read a long long time ago (after 4th book came out): There was a pope named Cornelius (251-252) and then, after Cornelius died in exile, Lucius came to be pope (252, during eight months). If jkr knows about this, then I'd firmly say Lucius will be the next MoM. Try doing a search in google.
  • about Harry's parents: their bodies might have not been burnst with the Avada Kedavra curse, but they were certainly destroyed with the house (remember Hagrid says he found lit'l Harry in the ruins of Potter's house)
  • Voldemort can turn people against each other (even if he is not present, as Dumbledore mentioned in the last chapter of GoF). I think the 'Harry's love interests against him' theory means that Voldemort will turn someone Harry loves against him. And someone means anyone Harry loves: Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Seamus, Padma, ...
  • Even if Harry hates Snape, Dumbledore willeventually convince him that Snape is a good man (which may or may not be true). It'll prevent Harry and Snape's relation to get worst (but won't aproach them)
  • 'Keep and eye on Snape' is only one of the ways JKR has to say nothing using a lot of words. If he is lying to someone (and I definitely think he is), this 'someone' can be anyone. And the lie could also be anything. Maybe he is not that bad, but pretends to be (seriously, I don't belive his, but is an hypothesis).
  • I don't think Hagrid will die.
  • Karkaroff may very well be mentioned again. Even if it is just to clarify Voldemort's mistirious words at the graveyard in GoF
  • And finally, I think Dumbleodre will die, but not in the sixth book.

How would JKR manage that with Lucius in Prison?

Well, there's always a whole bunch of Memory Charms and the Imperio Curse, Alice. However, it is unlikely that Luscious will become the next pope...wait...they don't have popes! Lol, just kidding. I doubt he will become the next MoM. Unless something like this happens:

Fudge goes out and dies, and his will is altered and his last wish is Malfoy at MoM. Though I do believe that it wouldn't work.
