Messrs

Postby TDM » Thursday 1 July 2004 8:58:11pm

well, this thread is about the potentional continuing existence of Moony and Wormtail, as dear old Padfoot and Prongs have departed.

is JKR end up going to kill off all four Messrs? i hate to say it, but i think so. i wouldn't doubt if Lupin died by Wormtail's hand, who was, in turn, killed by Harry, because he killed the closest thing that he had to a father figure, Voldemort, because he wanted Lupin alive for some reason, or the Half-Blood Prince, who is (hopefully) on the good guys' side.

anyway, post your views on the subject of the Messrs here.

you lost me

I think it's possible that Lupin dies as a result of something Wormtail does, but I don't know if that's an actual Wormtail-kills-Lupin thing or just some carelessness puts Lupin in harm's way... I think Voldemort himself will kill Wormtail.

what i mean is that is JKR eventually going to kill off all of the Messrs before the series is over? i hate to say it, but the way things are looking, i think so.

Oh, okay... I agree with you there...

Yeah, I think Lupin will die as a result of something Wormtail does, and that Voldemort will kill Wormtail.

I personally think that Lupin's going to survive. He is the last remaining tie to his father's inner circle. Unless some of Lily's old friends emerge...(Which now I think of it, seems rather strange that they haven't already) he will not have any strong link back to his parents.
I don't know why I have this feeling that Lupin's going to survive, but I want the story to end with Harry living with him. Hopefully Lupin will defeat Wormtail because otherwise the least talented of the Marauders will have bested the rest of them. In other words the bad guys win.

They might kill each other in book 7

Yes it is very interesting that Lily`s friends have had nothing to do with Harry but then would Lupin have had anything to do with Harry if he wasn`t a teacher?

i do not hope that moody dies, but i hope wormtail does. it´s quite possible that all four of them die...i don´t like to think about that...it´s bad enough that sirius is dead. :(

Eol, did you forget the part about Wormtail's new hand being SILVER?! What is the bane to all werewolves?

Actually, this is the very reason that I think Lupin will die and it will still turn out to be okay.

The Harry Potter books are (by Rowling's definition) about coming-of-age. As Harry grows older, gets a better sense of self, and gains talent and power as a wizard, he will need the ties to his parents even less. Yes, it would be sad if he didn't have that link to them, but it's becoming less and less necessary.

yeah...but it would be a pity if he died because lupin is still a very good friend of harry and harry needs him too.

You're right, it would be a pity. Harry loves Lupin, and Lupin is the favorite character of a LOT of fans. We'd hate to see him go.

But I think that, by the end of the final book, Harry will be at a place in his life where he can handle the loss of those people who originally had a parent-type relationship with him (Lupin did to a lesser degree), and that in the end, Harry will have to learn that the only person he needs is himself. All the other people in his life are very important, but as he grows older, he doesn't need those people as much as he did when he was a child.

well, that's exactly my point. he'll prolly end up living by himself after he moves out of Privet Drive, or maybe he'll find a nice place in London and him and Ron will room together.

also, Deedra, the silver hand was what set me off about Wormtail killing Lupin. i'm glad i wasn't the only one who noticed. plus, i want Wormtail dead (hopefully by Harry's hand), for not only betraying his parents, but killing Lupin. so, yeah. what he said in PoA about not wanting his parents to have Wormtail killed...he'll soon forget once he witnesses Lupin's death. he's used an Unforgivable curse once already, what's stopping him from doing it again?

The silver hand may be a problem for Lupin but I do not see Harry killing Wormtail. I see Wormtail dieing fulfilling his debt to Harry for saving his life back in POA.
DD did say that in the end Harry may be greatful to have saved Wormtail's life for it forged a lasting bond between them, a debt that Wormtail will be obliged to repay all the time he still lives.

I think Wormtail will be about to kill Lupin and stops him by reminding Wormtail of the life debt but JK had a lot to do with the films and I don`t think that was mentioned in the film(the life debt I mean)
