Snape-Evans (Book 5 spoiler)

Postby harrylover » Saturday 26 June 2004 10:12:16pm

I was just reading a bit on another forum where i found something interesting i wanted to let you know:

JK likes anagrams as we know from the voldemort/riddle thing and now a girl on the other forum found this:

Severus Snape
Perceus Evans

Evans...lily´s maden name...

Lily Evans
Aly Snivel

Remember what james and the others called snape...snivelly or snivellus??

What do you think about that?? Just coincidence?
Are they related??
There is a myth perseus who married andromeda which is the name of tonk´s mother.
perseus is also a star sign which could mean that he is related to the blacks...

I think that in the Greek myths, Perseus rescued Andromeda from some sea monster, married her and killed his own father.

Hm, it sounds interesting, but I can't see how they can be related. Lily was a Muggle born wizard and Snape is possibly a pure-blood, though we don't know for sure. If there's some relation between them, it would make Snape and Harry relatives --> poor Harry.

Lol...

I think it is a bit far fetched (sp)...
Some mey also know that Hogwarts may be an anagram for Ghost War, but This may mean nothing at all...

There has been some speculations about Snape and Evans (cause if you read it backwards, you get Epans and Snave, pretty similar to the first ones...)

I still don't think they are connected by blood

I think it's interesting, but I also think it's people having too much time and trying to find stuff that isn't really there.

About the most I will agree to is that I think that both Snape and Lily come from backgrounds that are different than what everyone thinks. I think Lily actually is not pure Muggle-born, and I think that Snape probably isn't pureblood (he was rejected by most everyone at school, as far as I can tell, including Slytherins).

But I wouldn't put a theory like them being related with this name thing... too much of a stretch in my opinion.

JKR said she took Snape's surname from a town in England, though it might not have been coincidental. i don't think anything with her is.

Definitely not related.

Yes, but how many Slytherins are there like Snape in the present (his past)? we don't here about them because they either keep to themselves or are not relevant to the story.

being in Slytherin means you have goals and will stop at nothing to achieve them. it never says you have to be boisterous.

Plus, the ones who are know who their parents are in league with. maybe Snape's family had nothing to do with it un til he was old enough to decide for himself.
