Lily and James Aurors???

Harry has alot of gold at Gringotts and its never really been given the attention I thought it would in explaining where all of it came from. They were both still relatively young and I highly doubt they or one of them inherited it from parents.

So I'm guessing that One or both of them were Aurors which leads me to believe that one of the reasons or the main reason that they were killed was that both were highly skilled, and were possibly killing off death eaters, and might have been getting close to finding and or killing voldemort.

I don't want to throw water on the thread, but for future reference, be sure and look around to see if an existing thread has what you're wanting to talk about (at the moment, Lily's Riches in the Theories board is discussing both possible careers the Potters had and if there's any other means to how Harry got the money from his account.) This allows for less confusion (sometimes, we get to cross-referencing threads that have similar themes, and it gets confusing! )

That said, I think it's possible James and Lily were Aurors... but I don't think that's why they were killed. I think they were killed because Voldemort found it absolutely necessary to kill Harry, and Harry's parents would have to go down as well, because as long as they were alive, Voldemort had no chance of getting to Harry.

I don't think they made their money as aurors. I believe that they were moonshining firewhisky during prohibition.
