did anyone else see the conection between the shield LV summoned and the Sword harry pulled out of the sorting hat? If the sword was Godric Gryffindors could the shield have been Salazar Slytheryns? The shield LV had seemed invincible and was a great help to LV. i think the sword is going to reappear in the next two books.

i was wondering about that too, it makes sense because voldemort is the heir to slytherin, and this farther confirms my theory that dumbledore is the heir to gryffindor, and yes, i do think that the sword will come up again, i think it came up in OotP as well, but it was just mentioned

i always thought that the sword was a clue that harry was the heir to gryffindor, not DD. although i have thought that perhaps they both are. and in turn would be related to each other which would explain why DD is so concerned about harry all the time ( well other than the fact that harry is vital to voldemorts end.) i'm really excited to find out more about ancestry in the final two books.

I never really thought about that, but it makes a lot of sense that the shield could have been Salazar Slytherin's.

I always thought that the sword was a clue as well, zledm. And I always hoped that DD was realated to Harry, like a grandfather or something, that would be so nice :D

Hrm, I have never really seen the sword as a hint as to Harry being the Heir of Griffindor... maybe becaue I really dont' like the idea of it... (yes I know, still!!!)

But that aside, goot job on the sword-shield connection (I never make these connection when reading! ) I think that it sounds very likely that it will play further on in the books! :D

Something that I think that is strange tho... sword~attacking, shield~defending... with Harry and Voldie, I would have picked it being the other way around... :-?

yeah thats true but maybe its a precursor to the 'final duel' between Harry and Voldi, harry attacking and LV having to defend himself.

ok thats probbably reading too far into things..

and maybe he'll use the sword, cause obviously their wands don't work against eachother, so maybe there will be a sword fight

A sword fight would be interesting and all, I just don't think it'll happen. I mean all of JKR's thousands of pages about magic would be for nothing if the great Lord Voldemort was killed by a sword. I mean, a sword seems like such a muggle artifact compared to a wand or something like that.
