Who is most likely to die in book 6?

Postby Lizzy Bennet » Friday 4 July 2003 8:24:31pm

A sad, if not depressing topic, but I think it's a foregone conclusion that at least one person will die in book 5, if not more. Unfortunately, on the poll, you can only vote once, so pick the one person you are most sure will die . . . I figure I better start preparing myself as, with how book 5 ended, it's going to get a lot worse in the magical world before it gets any better! :o

I haven't voted yet, but I will say, though I don't wish anyone to die (Cedric's death was shocking, Sirius's death was unbelievable then saddening), I'll be quite upset if Lupin dies . . . someone said it elsewhere, and I agree, that he's the last of the people who was close to Harry's father (as well as Sirius). I don't think any of the trio will die (certainly not in book 6), but I don't want Neville to die either (I'm thinking he won't, given his connection to Harry and to Voldemort . . . and how much more a part of the story he is). I wouldn't be happy about one of the Weasleys, Dumbledore, or Hagrid dying, but, I believe, Lupin's death would hit me the hardest. I'll be interested to see how you vote, and moreover, interested in who you think we may lose in the next book and how. Again, no matter how heroic a death it might be or how 'necessary', I'll still be crushed if it's Lupin or Dumbledore and possibly even Snape!

Sorry for the depressing topic, but as I figured it was inevitably going to happen in the next book, I was morbidly curious as to who you think is most likely going to die (one death is hard enough to cope with...multiple ones will be very hard indeed! ) and what may happen to them. I sincerely hope, if another of the Order dies (or someone on 'the good side' that we really like), they have a heroic death far unlike Sirius's accidental death, which seemed frustrating, even if it was realistic. :x Certainly, it made Harry think, which, may prove to be a very good thing for Harry in the future.

Most likely to die in book 6, is of course Fawkes the phoenix, who dies and is reborn!

If anyone else will die, I haven't got the faintest idea of whom it will be. Well, Snape is a potential candidate, because he's taking a big risk in spying on Voldemort. Then, Moody's always in the heat of battle, so he'll be in more risk than the others perhaps. I think all members of the order and the death eathers are potential deaths.

But, as I said somewhere else I think, more characters dieing won't necessarily make the book better! :-)

Indeed not, gecko. :D I could happily read a Harry Potter book sans a death! Unfortunately, I don't think, at this stage, it would be all that realistic. Dumbledore has been getting older (it was mentioned in one of the books) which makes me think there's a chance it might be him, but the idea of him not being the Headmaster and not in Harry's life is just shattering. Dumbledore isn't perfect--who is??--but he's always been there for Harry and when everyone was fighting at the Department of Mysteries, I remember Harry's distinct relief that he was there. Interesting that Dumbledore is the one Voldemort's always been afraid of, yet Dumbledore isn't in the prophecy . . . but I suppose Voldy doesn't know that!

Well, I haven't voted yet, I just cant' decide, but I do have ideas on who I dont' think that it will be... I doubt Snape, because he's seems to vital to the story, the good guy who hates Harry... I think that he just needs to be in there.

I cant' see DD dying in book 6, but I'm not certain that he will live on... I think that JK might kill him off 1/2 way through 7, just a feeling... :(

I would be dissapointed if Lupin dies, mainly becuase he is the last link Harry has in a sense with his Dad not that Sirius has gone... but I have doubts... Peter with his silver hand and all... :-?

I thought maybe Mr W, but then with that part in B5, were it was kind of hinting that he would be the one to die, I think maybe not...

So, basically, I have no idea! Oh wells!!! :D

i voted for Dumbledore. I just think he'll die whilst fighting Voldemort at the end of book 6, after Harry has sought Voldemort out and put himself in mortal danger. The prophesy dictates that Dumbledore can't kill LV, so I think Dumbledore will be killed. This will off course give Harry the extra push he needs to defeat LV in book 7.

i think it will be one of the older weasley boys like bill, charlie, or percy. this could add as motivation for ron later on for revenge on whoever killed them. i think that would be a cool storyline for ron: trying to get back at voldemort or the death eater that killed his brother. just a thought.

Next to die

Postby Lupin_13 » Wednesday 6 August 2003 9:59:15pm

I was extremelly upset when Sirius died (he was my favorite character... And I admit I cried...) But I'll be devistated if Lupin died. Although I can see how it could all work out- Wormtail (Pete Pettigrew) has a silver arm, and Lupinis a werewolf, and old folklore says that a werewolf can be killed by silver... But I'm not sure that JKR would take that route, because Lupin is her favorite character...

I voted for Mr or Mrs. Weasley's death. I was positive that Mrs. Weasley would die in the 5th book, and there are way tooo many Weasley's for them all to come out unscarred!

The Hagrid thing is strange for me. I wa sso sure that he woudl be the one do die in Book 5, and now that he's lived through it, if kind of feels like he has this invincible thing going for him...

I'm voting for Lupin, but I really really hope that he's not the one... :(

NOOO...not Lupin..if Lupin dies I'm sure Harry will become so crazy he'll have to go to St. Mungos with the Longbottoms (ok that's wasn't meant as an offense to the Longbottoms)

I just cant get over the whole silver hand-werewolf thing???

I mean, why a silver hand, it's not very inconspicious. It certainly wouldnt be my first choice of a material to make a hand out of? So I figure that there must be some reason for it??? no??? :???:

I really hope that Lupin fends Peter off though... :(

yeah you have an excellent point there, Holly...I just don't want Lupin to die...he's my favorite (second to Fred and George of course) and I liked him WAY better than Sirius...and Sirius was sweet too!

Sirius was pretty cool, but boy did he irritate me in OotP. I know thathe was in a horrible situation etc etc, but he could ahve acted just a little more grow up. And about Harry, the way he was kind of egging hem on to be reckless??? I dont' know!

I totally love Lupin though! I think that he's so awesome! He knows all those interesting things about DADA, and seems alot more responsible than Sirius is. Not that it's fun to always be responsible, but he's an adult aftr all, not a teenages (which it kind of seemes that Sirius was acting like... all happy when things went his way, but when they didn't... )

Anyways! That's about all! ;)

I think that it has to be one of the Weasleys purely because of the sheer numbers that they are in. I have no doubt that Fred and George are going to join it as well. However, with the Ministry aware of Voldy's return, maybe the order won't be there anymore?
As for all those people that think its going to be Dumbledore, i doubt that will happen until the 7th book. However, I am hoping with all my might that its not Dumbledore, as he is my absolute favourite character of all time. He can't die in the 6th because who will then mentor Harry and keep Severus in check?

I agree that DD iwll probably die in the 7th book. Prob about 1/2 way through it or something. Harry will get all distressed, and then realise the portraits in the Headmasters office thing, and will still be able to go and talk to DD etc!

It's still sad tho...
