WHOA...I've got a question..it relates to Sirius' moter bike so I'm assuming it's not off topic...wouldn't it go against the MoM rule about bewitching muggle artifacts? How is it Sirius is able to get away with it and Arthur wasn't??? It seems common knowledge that Sirius had a flying motorcycle...hmph...if there's a thread if someone could show me the way :circling: :???:

You'ld think that but he was getting away with it. Who knows, maybe this is a new rule?

hmmm... well, we don't know when flying carpets were outlawed (I don't think, anyway) so maybe you're right... maybe it is a fairly new law... *shrug* interesting question, though, I'll think about it and get back to ya. :-)

I don't want to sound forward but who said that it was common knowledge about Siriuse's bike.
I mean Dumbledore and his crowd knew about it but the MoM wasn't a part of his crowd was it?

Sirius has always struck me as the kind of fellow who simply didn't follow rules. If it was against the law to have a flying muggle transport what would he care so long as he had fun and got away with it.

Also is it possible that with all the Voldie stuff going on at the time; that the MoM didn't have time to worry about a flying motorbike?

PS: am I the only person on the planet who used to think that Sirius was pronounced Syrus?

That's how I pronounced it :double jump: then again I've pronounced quite a few things WRONG, but I figure that's part of the fun, you get to make up the word until Rowling says exactly how to say it

That's true...That could be explained about why only Dumbledore's croud talked about it, but did they talk about it in the 2nd book in the conversation at the Hog's Head?!? when they were talking about everything else, I'll try to answer it, but I've got an early morning tomorrow :-D

yea...didn't finish my thought  I mean cause if they did, wasn't Fudge there, he's the MoM for cryin' out loud...should they really have talked about it, and even NOW (as of the 5th book) everyone else knew about it, so I guess what Alice said:

Kingsly says outlloud that he's hear rep[orts that Sirius might be using his motorbike again, so that means people outside the order must know about it as well. Which made me think maybe the rule may have been put into effect becsause something happened with the bike. I mean the Weasleys Car turned up to help Ron and Harry in the forest in book 2 so maybe enchanted things feel loyal to their wizards, like pets. Maybe Sirius bike tried to rescue him or something, or track down him enemies and run them over :D I think Wormtail had it and stuffed it somewhere.

I always assumed that, since it's discussed in the Hogs Head, it was common knowledge. Also, Kingsley does bring it up to Arthur in the MoM to throw the aurors off-path... BUT, you're right... both of these things could be after the moterbike became common knowledge after Sirius's capture.... so it might not have been common knowledge before.

Maybe not, because Hagrid might have given it to someone before that.

Yeah, it's just there are so many places that it could be. I just hope she brings it back in the next book :-D How cool that would be to drive around on a flying motorcycle...

Maybe after wormtail faked his death and blew up the pavement killing all the muggles, he flew away on it. So its now the evil motorbike!

Well, that'd be a great theory, but we learned that Wormtail escaped through the sewers in his rat form :-D
