I don't think it will be Diggory although he may have mellowed out after Cedric's death so he could be more bearable. Just a thought: perhaps Diggory could be the new DADA, but I doubt it.

I still think the MoM will be someone we haven't heard of before. Like Bob Shlataphan from the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. I dunno.

It'll be interesting to see how Rowling introduces the new MoM. Will there be a whole scandal that takes up a chapter or two or just a newspaper article in the Daily Prophet saying how crappy Fudge is and how good the new MoM is.

i somehow dont see Amos Diggory to take part in the future books.
i think there would be a direct replacement in the book, no scandal.

btw, wont Umbridge be replaced? she should be. now who will become the Senior Undersecratory?
hmm....

Maybe Percy? It would depend on who becomes MoM and if Percy fixes things up with his family.

Personally, I think Percy is going to patch things up with his family, Arthur will become MoM, and Percy will be the Undersecretary...

Even my first reaction was Percy, but in retrospect, Percy is just two years old in the Ministry, and to become a Senior Undersecratory is a bit too much, isnt it?

Percy and Umbridge

Percy is the kind of *REAL* politician, we talked about, bit I agree, that he is way too young and too in-experienced. Fact is, that certain qualities are helpful to gain political power. Funny enough, that we don't like to have these qualities among the elected.

For Percy it will be a real temptation to quickly gain a lot of power by using just a little bit of the dark side. That's what Umbridge, his role-model, did.

If everything Umbridge did comes out, she should have a place in prison booked.

I posted this yesterday sometime or maybe the day before. L'li Monster you are really starting to get on my nerves!
OK here we go again:

Why would you say that Groo?
Percy is currently the MoM's Personal Secretary/Assistant and that is a pretty presitgious job. I don't see why he would be automatically overlooked for the Undersecretary position.

aah so it was L'il Monster! i had wondered and wondered what had happened to my post. then i thought i had a split personality or something so i reposted it.

as for Percy becoming Personal Assistant, Fudge had an ulterior motive behind that, making him spy his own family. even Arthur was highly surprised at him being promoted to that post so soon.

Umbridge was almost like the second in command at the Ministry.dont you think, with hundreds of people working in the Ministry, a two-year experienced kid of age 20 becoming Senior Undersecratory is a little difficult? there has to be a post of Junior Undersecratory to pass before becoming the Senior.
i think Arthur will let Percy remain as Assistant, and some other guy will become the Undersecratory

When I said the Percy thing I was simply throwing ideas around in the dark. In fact I think it is improbable the Percy would get that job, mostly because Fudge just wanted hm there to keep an eye on the Weasleys.

I've thought arthur would be MoM since before I knew this site existed :Þ, but here's an almost-serious idea: Molly for MoM! :Þ

Okay, I guess my meanie computer kicked me off before my last post showed up... either way, it's not up...

I was going to say that Percy has a job that I've associated a lot of just-out-of-college interns would kinda have... it's not an undersecretary to THE minister of magic, but to one of the lower level polititians. I think he had at least almost enough experience and schooling to justify having the job, and I think his all-work attitude, as well as the you-must-follow-the-rules personality, made him desirable for a job like that...

I have bad news for everybody, including myself, who wanted Arthur to become the new MoM.... JK has added to her FAQ on her website recently:

Q: Will Arthur Weasley become the new Minister for Magic?
A: Alas, no.

I for one am very disappointed that it won't be Arthur, but now that he's out of the running (and he was the favourite for the job, according to us fans) the field is once again open for speculation. Unless its a new character altogether (perhaps there's a deputy Minister for Magic) I can't for the life of me think who it is.

Maybe we all are too much in problem-solving-mode, while JKR has to generate a load of new ones.
