Thanks for the welcome Athena :P It was a nickname a teacher gave me way way back in junior high and I've hung onto it since then.

I accidently posted this in another thread and thought I'd bring it back to its rightful discussion thread. I know its a bit off topic of what you've been talking about but has anyone else ever considered that Poppy could be a relative of DD, even his daughter. I've thought it a couple times, does anyone kno if theres a description of Madame Pomphrey and if she looks anything like DD?

 not to sound rude (at all,I promise!) but that was one of the most random things I've read... do you have any evidence to back it up?

If Madam Pomfrey was DDs daughter, 1. that would probably mean DD's married (who's his wife, where is she?), 2. I don't think he would go around calling her "Madam Pomfrey", which he does about half the time, the other half of the time calling her "Poppy", 3. Why would he send her out of the room when he's talking to everyone about the Order in the hospital ward (I would think he'd have a close relative be in on it, since apparently he trusts her, but this is just an opinion), 4. why would he blush when his daughter complimented his earmuffs?

just don't see it, but if you've got something to back it up (at all), i'd love to hear it

like I said a relative or his daughter. As for your response

1) Wheres his wife? If DD is 150 his wife could already have died. Just because DD may have decided to take a potion or whatever to live longer doesn't mean his wife did. I think its silly to lthink DD never married, I mean he's all about love and everything.

2)Why would he call he Madame Pomfrey? Out of respect. He calls her Poppy when he's alone with her and Madame Pomfrey around others. I mean, if you worked at the same place as your dad wouldn't you want him to treat you like any other employee and offer you the same respect he gives everyone else.

3)Why would he send her out of the room? Not everyone is in the Order. Maybe she doesn't want to be, maybe HE doesn't want her to be because he doesn't want her hurt. I mean thers lots of people who are loyal to DD but not in the order.

4) WHy would he blush?- Because he was complimented. I still blush when people compliment me.

As for evidence, I'm sure I read something somewhere that gave me an impression that they may be related because I never pull things out of thin air for no reason, but I can't remeber exactly where at the moment. I've got notes in all the margins of my copies so I'm sure I'll find it since I read the whole series through twice a week. (I can't help it, I'm always afriad I've missed something :-? ) I'll get back to you

I can agree that we can't know whether DD was ever married, but what makes you think he has drunk a potion to live longer? We don't know how long wizards live, what we do know is that they live longer than muggles.
And I doubt DD would ever drink any elexir of life..

The respect thing is all good, but I doubt he would call his daughter "Madame"

Mind, this is only my opinions, and(as you mention yourself) you haven't really stated any facts as for why they would be related. I'm dying to see those :)

haha... i still think it's random, but am waiting with baited breath for your evidence that they're related... (i'm just messin with ya, you know)

Dumbledore is all about love, but I just don't feel like he's been married. I don't think he drinks anything to make him live longer, because he has a real aversion to doing anything to have an unnaturally long life, so I think 150 years is a fairly standard lifetime for a wizard (sounds weird, but start counting up all the people whose ages don't match how they seem, and you'll see the general lifetime is different)...

I would personally feel uncomfortable if my dad or another close relative called me "madam" anything, in public or private... It's not disrespectful for someone to call you by your first name, as long as they say it respectfully, and Dumbledore says everything respectfully.
