You have a point, but unless you're a serious prankster (like Fred or George) I would think that if you were dealing with someone who would sooner kill than look at you. I'd make the note fairly serious!

If you think about it R.A.B. isn't that obvious, I think it will probably be Regulus Black. He;s hardly mentioned that much, it's just because people have thought about it far too much

I know! that would be so lame! I mean your'e reading the book and you finally find out who RAB is and its Regulus and its like "oh I knew that one, saw that one coming for ages"... But if it were somebody completly out of the blue you'd be like "WOW oh my goodness.... must keep reading!!!

Yes that is a coincidence but I still would be very disappointed if it was him since just about everything points to him. Wouldn't be much of a twist for me.

Well, the thing abut RAB is that it's incredibly obvious to us NOW, because it's become such a widespread theory across the fandom...but as Christo says, in the book he's really not mentioned very much! And if this hadn't become such a popular theory, it WOULD have been a a complete shock when you found it out.

Sort of how most of the fans who read Mugglenet, and visit forums every day knew that Snape was probably going to be the half blood prince before the book even came out...but to other people, it may have come as a shock.

I think maybe the reason it took so long for the book to be released is because JK had more than one person in mind to be RAB and had plots for both but was waiting to see who would be the most talked about and popular theory so she would choose a different person to shock everybody. Maybe thats a little farfetched... but it would make me happy because then it wouldn't be Regulas and I'll be suprised!

I see where you guys are going with the Regulus Black being too easy, lets hope there's a twist, but who else could it be? Black is hardly mentioned in the series, brought up only a few small times in passing. There are no Huge billboards with neon flashing lights saying LOOK AT REGULUS BLACK! THINK ABOUT HIM FURTHER!!!

the reason it seems so obvious to us because we have been following these books for almost 10 years now, we've been transfixed by JKR's story and our desire to theorize and speculate as to what is next and how to tie up the loose ends, we have learned how to do it so well that we know how to pick out those small fragments and go with them.

I too agree that I hope that there is some huuuuge twist and we are all shocked, but no matter what, I'll be unable to put the book down. Whether we are correct or not, I can't wait to get my hands on that book and know everything.

I can go into great detail as to why I can not believe that it is anyone but Regulus Black, if you'd like me to go into them?

Why don't we all just read the bboks again, find all of the characters with R's,A's, and B's in their names and than post the finds here, so that we can elimenate them.
Or maybe the RAB refers to the characteristics of the person!

Godric... people all over the world have already done that 100 times over.. which lead to this whole theory of Regulas Black in the first place. And he is absolutely the only character mentioned who has all RAB in his name. There's hardly any A's or B's for first names.
And yes, Iv'e already said that I think RAB may not be an actual 'name'. I think it might be a code name or alias. So their real name has nothing to do with RAB at all so we would never be able to come up with the person just by trying to look through all the books for RABs.
