It just occurred to me a very plausible reason that Dumbledore put Snape as the DADA teacher, even though they only last a year: Dumbledore wanted to make sure Harry continued his training as an Auror. Everything fits.

That's what the fight between Snape and Dumbledore was about: Snape had realized he would only have one more year to spy on Dumbledore. That's also why he took the Unbreakable Vow.

I don't think he's going to be a spy anymore. I think he just needs to be in a place where he can betray voldemort.
