Actually, I see it from the opposite point of view, and I think it more likely that two squibs would know each other and maybe marry. Like, if you have a rare disease, you would find yourself in the position to find someone else with that disease, but if you didn't, you wouldn't bother searching for someone with it. Doesn't make a lot of sense once I put it in words. I just think it's more likely that two squibs would find each other.

And I still think Mrs. Figg and Filch are brother and sister!

Perkins... I have this theory that I think is pretty good that Perkins (the guy who works with Arthur in the Muggle Artifacts office) is married to Mrs. Figg... it's in the "another mrs. figg theory" thread in here... go look, there's some compelling stuff (I think)

I didn't read through all the posts because I'm short on time, but I am rereading book 5 for the umpteenth time and this time around I am so darned curious about what Dudley "saw" that night with the dementors. My little theory is that it is something much deeper or more complex than things like the pigs tail, or the candy from Fred & George, or stuff like that. I think there is a dark secret in the Dursley family that Big D was recalling.

And I don't think he'll be the one to acquire new magic. I do however think something will happen again to risk his life and Harry will use magic to save his life and this will begin to turn around their relationship. I think something significant like this would happen in the last book or really late in the next book.

I'm dying to get the next book (as are the rest of you!) Gimmee it now, JKR!!!

Lol the time his cone didnt have enough ice cream on it!!! and the time he had to take harry with him on his bday!!! also, maybe he was bullied or made fun of for being fat when he was REALLY really small, like first grade b4 we knew him

Yeah, maybe the reason he acts like such a jerk to Harry is because of bad stuff that may have happened to him when he was younger. Most bully's were bullied themselves at some point.

Naw, if you remember the first book. He was a spoiled brat then, and his parents gave him a fine example of bullying and generally being a bad person.

I also don't really believe he could be a wizard, it just seems like too much of a stretch

Dudley has been too much of a jerk too long to admit he was wrong and change anything about himself. More likely, he'll deny Harry ever having helped him and probably insinuate that Harry was the one who started th attack in the first place.

As far as what he saw. I actually do believe he SAW something horrible and had it taken care of

mayb his fear would be being rejected and kicked out. he is a spoilt child, and completely depends on people doing what he wants all the time. if he got rejected, having to survive on his own, i think that would be his nightmare.

i read somewhere about aunt petunia showing magic at one point in the books. remember JKR laughing when she was asked if petunia was a witch. also, she said once that in the books one person over eleven will show magic who hasnt before, and that would explain petunia not being a witch or a muggle. she might use magic to protect dudley or sumfing. just a thought.

well, harry is a good enough wizard, so it wont matter too much.
