i've been thinking about what voldemorte said in goblet of fire about the missing death eaters, ' one was afraid to come back and one had left for good'

it seems to have been assumed that the one who voldemorte said was afraid to come back was karkhoff (sp?) and the one who had left his service was snape, but what if it wasn't, what if it was the other way around.

I don't think that is it, because I thought that the book made it pretty clear that Karkaroff was scared, and he had a good reason to be scared too.

Severus Snape

Postby Rory Pridinham » Friday 2 May 2003 11:35:23am

Has anyone heard the rumour that Snape is a vampire? He stayed away from Quirrel when he had all that garlic, he's always in the dungeons and is kinda mean. However, these may just be a coincidence. I personally don't believe it as much as other rumours I've heard.

This theory arose after the first movie, because Alan Rickman played him so much like a vampire. But I don't think it would fit...JKR usually finishes the storylines she introduces, and that would be too much Snape for the Harry Potter series...Snape's connection to Harry's parents is an important line, Snape being a DE (we don't know why he joined or why he left yet), Snape's secret task in book 4...no, Snape a vampire's definitely too much.

I had just think about this, Rowling said in an interview, that a "special" fan of Harry will die in next book; and we have to accept it, SS has an obssesion about Harry, so he can be considered as the "special" fan, and about him trying to be a spy, and Voldemort killing him sounds very likely.

A special fan...yea, that's Snape indeed...
But JkR said the death was very hard to write...do you think this would fit for Snape? I think he's too important as a character to kill him already in the 5th book...at least I hope so!

I hope he isn't killed too, besides there are several rumours that in book six we will find a lot of stuff about Snape, so I think that Jo won't kill him know, it was just a theory.

I would think that when JK says a death that's hard to write, it's not necessarily a 'good' character. I mean, she personally has deveolped the charatcer of Snape quite a bit, so that alone could make it hard for her to write.

That aside, I don't think that it will be Snape that dies. His character has too much of a continuing influence on Harry. And, if he was teh one to die, someone with a personality much the same, or who treated Harry much the same would have to replace him.

I think that the books would loose alot without the character of Snape. If everyone loved Harry and let him get away with stuff, like Moody and Lupin did sometimes, then it would loose something improtant.

Also, I think that we will find out alot more about Snape's past with James and Lily, and Voldie also....

But hey, there's nothing saying I'm right!!!

I've just heard a weird theory:
Snape is in fact Voldemort's son, which is why he knew so many curses as a first years, and also why he hated James Potter in the first place.
Hardly possible, for he'd be the last descendent of Slytherin, then, but nice to think about.

Maybe he wasn't his directly son, but he is related by some part of the family and he raised Snape.

I really can't see that happening! Snpae being raised by voldie? And remember, Snape's really not that bad. Yes, he's hard on harry in class, and he's definately unreasonable sometimes, but he's generally been trying to keep the boy alive... Why would he do that if Voldie rasied him?

Ans, if Voldie had raised him, you would have to assume that Snape would have some feeling of warmth towards his father figure, would he really have betrayed himand gone spy? And he would want something really bad to Happen to Harry for taking him from power? No?

Maybe Voldemort never wasn't a very good father, I don't think of him giving too much love to Snape, so maybe when Snape grew up he hated Voldemort and had a mixing of emotions, and that's why he is so mean to Harry (ok, ok I know this sounds impossible, but theories are theories, no? (even if they are too far fetched)

I've actually read that in a fan fic...I think it's quite a nice theory, but honestly, it reminds me a little of Star Wars...

*Voldie finds out that Snape's been betraying him for years and somewhere on a bridge, it comes to a final confontation. Snape and Voldemort are standing face to face, wands drawn.
Voldie: "Severus...IIIIIIIIIIIII am your father!"
Snape: "Nooooooooooooo" jumps off the bridge*
