I still don't find it wise to turn Nagini into a horcrux. Possible, but rather stupid as it is not very safe. It should be something else in the house where the old man was killed.

Yeah, but Nagini is special, and she seems rather smart enough to stay out of trouble. She seems like a reliable tool to hold a horcrux. One that can fight back and protect itself

But still she isn't immortal and once she dies, what will LV do with her body? A mummy? (That is of course an option...)

Something to consider, which I don't think DD said anything about (if he did, please remind me where!) , is, if a horcrux is a living thing - Harry, Nagini or whoever - what happens when they die? Is it still 'valid' as long as the body is intact, like with a normal horcrux?

I'm currently re-reading all the books. Right now I'm on POA, anyway in the Chamber of Secrets, after the initial destruction of the journal and the basilisk, when Harry talks with Dumbledore. There is a very interesting part in there.

Just to paraphrase, Dumbledore told Harry, that in the failure to kill him, a part of his soul/self went into Harry. Is this perhaps a clue, of more than just the transfering of the ability to be a parselmouth, or his sheer determination? Or something else?
