If women ruled the world, there were less wars. OK, but more poisonings.

Says who? Remember Margaret Thatcher, she was a heartless, brutal woman. There have also been matriarchal societies otu there, and they still went to war. Being a woman doesn't make you any better at communication or negotiation than anyone else. In fact, I find women to be more brutal and sadistic than men

I already ripped into thestral for saying something like that, do you want on that list too

'Tis annoying. But back on the topic:
I'm interested to know what will Kreacher the house-elf do? He's tied to 12GP isn't he? But the Blacks have now all gone. Will he go to Narcissa Malfoy (formerly Black) and stay there? If so, I'm sure LV could find him and torture out of him information on the Order. It's pretty interesting isn't it? I thikn I'm gonna start a thread on it. May as well.
If Narcissa is a DE, what would her role be? Resident DE Maid? I doubt it.

Oops! You are taking this very seriously! I just wanted to state, that the genders have different ways of doing things. I didn't intend any rating on the good/bad scale. OK now?

Somebody in another thread stated that the elves are tied to the house. So he should stay there.

Up to now we have very general statements about the matter, but we know very little about the small print in elf relations. What happens if a family ceases to exist? What if a family moves to another home? What if a home is torn down and a new house is built on the same spot? No explanations so far.

I don't think Kreacher'd need to be tortured. He'll go to Narcissa Black if he can (DD being the secret keeper means that certain things can be kept from others) and He'll probably willingly tell her everything she wants to know if he can

Emphasis on if he can.
I'm not sure whether the house-elf is tied to the hosue or the family. Dobby left the house in CoS a few times. And when Lucius took him with him to Hogwarts at the end, the elf was still at his bidding, so my guess is that it is his family. Though I don't know if DD will let him go. I daresay the worm will manage to get out if he wants to though. Do you think 12 Grimmauld Place will still be the HQ?

I think it depends n whether Sirius made a last will or not. If he did, Grimmault Place is certainly passed to Harry, but if he didn't, it belongs to the three Black Sisters.

What ever happened to Sirius' elf? What was his name, Kreatcher? Anyway, wouldn't that set him free since his family is all dead now. Or did Sirius have sisters? Because I thought he only had cousins. I mean Kreatcher was pretty evil in the last book. Wonder if the elves are going to revolt with their own powers when Voldemort comes back.

actually... that's a good thought cedric! i mean why would JKR keep the whole issue of SPEW and elf welfare in the books if it isn't going to amount to anything? and there have been many times in the books when the plot of critical events have been saved, averted , affected by house-elves. they seem to have quite an important though muted influence. i had always assumed that it was the comedy, light relief of the books (the whole hermy trying to chase everyone with SPEW thing). but dobby was pretty powerful when lucius went for harry and dobby blasted him with his mojo. i think that was the only time we saw them actually performing magic. and winky talked about her magic being used to bind barty crouch to her, they must have powers that people underestimate and when you think about how many times people have referred to how it's okay to treat them like dirt cos they're only house-elves. it seems that when you examine it that JKR has made an issue of it.

and if wizards aren't going to give them the respect they deserve there is the possibility that they could defect to voldie, like the dementors, giants etc. except house-elves would be a much more formidable enemy. the enemy within is much more dangerous than an outsider. think how much sensitive, private information they would know (especially ministry elves!)and with that sort of knowledge voldie would be unstoppable. knowledge is much more dangerous than brute force. just consider the impliactions! :o

Wow! I could've sworn that you were Hermione herself, haha. No but the issue is very interesting. I remember hearing someone saying (I want to say either in the Potter books or JKR) that elves have their own brand of powerful magic. That is why they can go in and out of Hogwarts un-noticed. And JKR does seem to really really push it in...oh what book was it, the GoF? Anyway, something tells me that they must have some important part to play because they've never been read or spoken about so much until lately.

I wonder if whats going to happen is they are going to stop their services to humans and rise in power in the end to help you know, Potter and Dumbledore defeat Voldemort. Or will Voldemort try and recruit them as well since he's trying to regain his power again.
