I think the dementers effect diffenerent people in slightly different ways. I'm pretty sure that Hagrid said that he was forced to relive the memories of loosing norbet, his dads death, getting expelled from Hogwarts.

Um..... I think that something to do with voldemort or dark arts  is what Dudley relived. A brush with magic that hur Dudley would also add fuel to why they Dursleys are afraid of magic.

Whatever it turns out to be :???: i think it will make good reading :D

Maybe it'll unearth something new about Dudley. Like perhaps the worst moment of his life was something like accidentaly turning his teacher's wig blue...
JKR said that someone new will get magic powers... :o

Yeah me too lol. I really am very sceptical about anyone new getting magic...
ANYWAY, dudley's dementor, eh? Maybe it's... er... the day he found out Harry was a wizard?

Don't forget the time Fred and George gave him ton tongue toffee and Hagrid gave him a tail, so Dudley has been through some relatively 'traumatic' (and I use the term traumatice loosely) time at the hands of wizards.

Maybe this was what he was reliving.

Harry only sees his parents die because that was an extremely terrible thing and Lupin says in poa he only felt that sort of extreme emotion because of it. then again dudley could be a wizard !!!

Could Dudley be some kind of Squib? He has got some connection to wizards... that would explain many things. But I don't think he is a real wizard. Anyways: Don't you think uncle Vernon would be very proud if Dursley was a Wizard (from the beginning)? Perhaps he expected this, or somebody took Dudley powers and that's why he hates Harry so much... He is what his son never was... If that's too silly, ok it was some of these things one thinks...

I don't think Dudley is a squib... Even if I'm right, and Petunia and Lily's parents (or maybe even just one parent) were squibs, I think after a generation of squibs, you're considered full muggle... lol

like, if Mrs. Figg had a child, if that child was non-magical, he or she wouldn't be a squib, they'd be a muggle.

and I just didn't "get" what you were talking about, someone taking the powers away... :-?

Hey

Here's a thought. Harry hears things that happened when he was very young, too young to remember any other way. So we know how the Dursleys treat Harry, so maybe that's were they vent out their rage. Before harry was around, maybe they vented it out on Dudley, or they argued alot around him or something.

See, when i started typing that it seemed like a good thought.

 happens to me all the time...

I've about decided that Dudley really did just feel the miserable, cold, never-feel-good-again feeling, which is bad enough.

I don't think that Lily's parents were squibs. Squibs are supposed to be rare, and for two to get married doesn't seem likely. Hermione is proof that muggles can have magical children, so why look for squibs all the time. I have seen many theories saying so many people might be squibs but we only know of 2 squibs in the entire magial world (one of which we only found out about in OotP), so I don't think that the chances of Lily's parents being squibs.

Dudley may have seen Hagrid giving him his pig tail.
